Customer Review
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 January 2019Great mini radiator but be aware that power rating doesn't equal heat outputThis review is for the small 800w 6 fin radiator. It is a very neat and small radiator which looks rather nice in black and operates silently apart from the odd click of the heating element turning on and off.The radiator works for my needs adding supplementary heat to a smallish room.It is very much worth keeping in mind that for oil filled electric radiators that the power rating is not the same as heat output! The heating element turns on to heat the radiator up and then cuts off when its up to temperature and repeats once it has cooled down slightly.Whilst it does use around 800w whilst heating you'll find that once up to temperature it only heats for about half the time. This means the heat output (as confirmed by an regulatory information leaflet in the box) is only about 400W.I think that this information should be made clearer as if you are comparing a 800w fan heater which continuously heats whilst on to this 800w radiator you'll find you're getting about half the amount of heat as you might have been expecting.Treat this as a 400W heater but obviously it'll transfer heat faster in colder temperatures. This will not heat up a large room and will struggle to keep an un-insulated medium sized room warm. But if this power output is sufficient for you needs then its a great product!4 stars for not making heat output clearer.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 October 2018Painted metal so will smell when first heatedBought black version for use in wooden workshop for occasional heating when very cold. Excellent value for money. Red light shows when heater is warming. Vary thermostat knob from low to high. Fully assembled except feet which slot into position. Lightweight to move. 800 watt. Small footprint. Read instructions before switching on as it needs to stand for an hour to settle the oil inside.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 October 2016Perfect for small caravans or smaller campervansI have an older campervan that was converted some years back, and has an old fashioned gas heater , that works perfectly.Even with the installation of a CO monitor my better half is a little uneasy about using it, so I thought about one of these.I have a 1500/3000w peak pure sine wave inverter in the van and two leisure batteries. It will drive a microwave , so I suspected it could cope with this. The heater is tiny, heats up quickly and in the enclosed living space of my van after a short time was taking the chill of the morning air nicely. It is marked at 800 watt, but I suspect it uses about 1kw when running.Of course , use on the system above for a long time will drain my lesure batteries quickly, but , on a low heat setting (the thermostat is adjustable) it should be more than capable of taking the chill off the air.Connected to an external power source at a camp site of course, no issue at all, but my main use will be for off grid camping, so something that my inverter/battery set up could manage was what I wanted. It is also small enough to store easily away.As to durability, time will tell, but it looks nicely made and arrived very well packaged.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 March 2019Small, cheap to buy and run, silentGreat little heater that just takes chill off room or if you leave it on long term it does warm up a room really nicely (I forgot to turn it off one time and when I got back my room was warm and toasty). I wanted it so I didn't get out of bed in the morning to a freezing rental room where there is no thermostat timer control apparently so whoever gets up first has to put heating on! It has done the job. Would suit small double or single rooms.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 May 20203 ⭐⭐⭐for nowjust got may product the 800w Black mini oil filled Radiator look very good just as a front leg missing. if the company would send me a replacement leg it would be great ? it needs to be level of course. so I have sent a little e mail to them about it. it Would be better than sending it Back it's up to them about this matter we will see ? have email from company now don't do parts so did says 10% off or a refund just not worth the effort of sending it back so you know . Please don't buy this Radiator
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 November 2020Fantastic and economicalBought this because we get damp creeping in from next door house. We have no heat source near that area, so bought this as a "heat tick over" its so good we will buy another for upstairs. Its economical and heats up our whole living room, thus saving us on our oil central heating the whole house if we just want the living room warm for the evening.I was dubious at first but now wish Id bought it years ago and saved us all the trouble of dealing with damp.and mould.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 October 2018Good value for moneyBought this for cold nights in our touring caravan, worked well and kept us warm
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 June 2019Ok but stat doesn’t work properlyThis is good but not giving 5 stars as, the thermostat does not operate before the overheating stat, ie if you go above half way the overheat stat takes over this is a design fault of many of these heaters.I assume being black if gives off more heat that a white one, that is physics, black radiators work better than white ones big who wants to see black radiators, I found the same action with this as a white 500w one I had in that the over heat stat takes over, simply the heater is not giving up all its heat.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 February 2019Just does what it says on the tinThis works very well and has handle to move it around even when hot. It's small, lightweight and quiet. Just what I need for the study. If it's not enough warmth for your space that's not the fault of the product. Ideal for me.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 January 2020DANGEROUS!!!!Thought I was getting a barging. Worked grate for maybe 5 weeks then disaster! Oil leaked all over brand new carpet :( but it doesn't end there, the little radiator with no oil in kept heating up melting most of the radiator it's self and smoked the house out! Just really lucky it didn't catch on fire ??♂️.... PLEASE BE CAREFUL
Customer questions and answers
- How much noise does it make?It doesn't make any noise once it has heated up, the noise is a slight crackle but is only for a couple of minutes.
- Is this suitable to be left on overnight in a tent?We left it overnight in our touring caravan but it has to have space all around and not touch anything
- How quickly does it heat a small room?We use it in a Motorhome. If I wanted to beat a small room I would use a fan heater first for rapid heating, then switch it off and put on this one, it is good at maintaining a temperature and has a good thermostat. I have had to turn it down at night.
- Would it be safe to keep it running overnight in a converted garage room?I run ours all night on a medium thermostat setting ( dogs room!) with no trouble and v.low electricity consumption. Of course you should avoid proximity to potentially flammable items.
