PleaseI HAVE NO IDEA WHY THE SIDES ARE GLASS - I HAVE NOT FOUND THIS AN ISSUE - IT FITS PERFECTLY IN THE SMALL PLACE I HAVE IT - THE LOGS & FLAMES ARE LOVELY & IT GIVES OUT A LOVELY WARM HEAT - QUITE POWERFUL FOR A SMALL ITEM.
