Customer Review
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 June 2020Nice compact Air purifierthis Is a nice and small purifier I can see that the dust is being sucked into the filter but it’s not as effective as the Philips 300i series if anyone is looking for a purifier I’d like to warn you that Philips filters are costly and hard to get hold of and I tried to post a review on their website which was rejected multiple times
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 June 2020A definite step-up from previous GenI will keep this brief and as useful as possible. I currently have the latest Dyson Hot+Cool air purifier which I used for 2 weeks+ prior to getting this, that's now being sent back on account of the Phillips being far superior in direct comparison when used within my home. The single physical downfall of this purifier is the fabric design element which looks nice but would be difficult to clean, the functional downfall is that it looks like it could be a Google home product yet it has not integration into that system currently.I have had many air purifiers and even had the previous gen Phillips equivalent which had poor build quality in comparison to this and vibrated noisily. This moves a lot of air within, and inevitably when air is moved through a machine it creates noise, that is the main audible element here and it can get loud when high, thats not due to noisy poor quality parts as is the case with others.I could say much more but will leave it there! Hope this helps someone.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 May 2021You can literally see the pollutants in the filter! This review is for the Philips Series 800 Compact. I bought these because I thought it may help with the pollutants in the air. I live by a road and it can create a lot of dust (even with the windows shut) so I wanted something to help with that.To note the purifier is much bigger than I thought it would be, which I'm glad about because it feels like you're getting more for your money lol Plus, cover a larger area. I'll take some photos so you can see it stood next to things so you can get the idea of size.It has 3 functions, which are Auto: So this is when the fan is permanently on and ready to deal with any issues in the air. I have this setting on most of the time because you can just leave it and let it clean the air when it detects pollutants. The only time I turn this off and onto 'Sleep', is when I'm in bed and the fan is in my room because it can be quite loud and you can feel the cool air, so it's not the best to be close to it in the chilly months lol It will be a godsend in summer though! Sleep is when it's the quietest, you can barely hear it at all unless you put your head to it. I'm presuming it's slowly cleaning the air? It's the only thing I'm not sure of. I'm sure it's doing something otherwise you would just switch it off with the button on the back. The other mode is 'Turbo', and sounds turbo too lol This is when the fan is on full pelt and is working to clear the room of pollutants in around 15 minutes. I never use this one because just leaving it on auto mode will do the same when it needs to.Theres a little light ring on the top of the unit and it changes colour based on the quality of air:Blue for Good. Purple for Fair. Pink for Poor. Red for Very Poor. You can see them changing based on what you are doing. I lit a cigarette in one room and less than a minute later the fan came on in the hall, which I thought was brilliant because it was so quick and we weren't in the same room! This is one of my reasons for the five stars. The other reasons are for the simple fact the filters are so easy to take out and brush clean, the fact that they collect a crazy amount of dust, air particles because you can literally brush it off to form a clump, it's brilliant to see that amount being taken out of the air. I've had less dust from the roads while these fans have been on (I bought two for different areas, and would like one in each room lol). I was going to buy the Dyson air purifier but was put completely off by how much the filters were to replace each year, £60 each! Where as the Phillips replacements are only £10-15 per year so that's another reason why I bought a second and spent what I had on two purifiers cheaper to run than one small Dyson costing £60 per year. The saving is definitely worth it, especially now I've seen how much dust and irritants they take out of the air. I've took some photos to show you, this is from the filter that's half way to cleaning. When you clean it after the month, it's FULL of dust and dirt. You just brush the filter with a dustpan and brush and pop it back in it's so easy. I'd definitely buy more in the future. Hope my review has helped someone anyway :)
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 May 2020Delivered Faulty - Philips service uselessOn delivery, I could not gain access to the filter, as requited to commission the unit. This item was a replacement for a previous unit that exhibited the same fault. Rather than risk a third unit I contacted Philips who would not send me the required replacement part or visit on-site but proposed a return to their base plus 10-day turnaround. I reluctantly agreed and they said it would be collected the next day between 0900 and 1700 (huge window). I waited all day and it was not collected. My patience then broke - I returned the unit to Amazon and will buy a different make. Can't fault Amazon throughout - its Philips unit quality and unbelievably poor customer service
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 April 2020Great product - you get what you paid for.Great product - just works. Don't get me wrong, Amazon is full of cheaper air purifers (probably a bit related to the current global situation). For me the plus is that the filter is expected to last up to 3 years (that's 4-6 times longer than the cheaper products e.g. Levoit - which are cheaper upfront, but catches you out gradually on the total cost of ownership, if you were to renewal the filters - as you should). You get what you pay for, the filter works quickly, efficiently. Fan ramps up can be a little noisy, but the automatic mode is workable. Night mode works, but is a little weak. Much better for the purposes of air purification than my previous AC 3829/60 2-in-1 Purifier & Humidifier (which I returned because of compromised design - the filter on that ran out much faster - once a few months). This new generation is great at purification - might get a standalone humidifier later. Obviously this does not filter out that current global virus (which is 2-3x smaller than what the HEPA filter manages) - then again without going to UVC equipped HEPA specialised product - you'll generally struggle to filter that with HEPA systems.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 July 2020Great for asthma, very pleased. As an Asthma sufferer, this filter has made a huge difference. A little pricey but I went for a brand I trust as people do, but glad I did. Setup in under a minute and problem free with 3 easy modes. Only bought one so need to move it from room to room from day to night but not much trouble really. When I have a little spare cash I will buy another.Ref the plug thing, someone posted a flaw criticism where it sticks out, mine was fine, no obvious problem.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 June 2020Design Fault what we're Philips thinkingthis is a nice small sleek unit with a massive design fault. The power cable does not sit comfortably in the machine meaning that a slight knock or movement the machine will turn off. Expensive compared to other machines. Purchased another model on costco which was actually a bit cheaper made by winnix and that has made a more noticeable impact on air quality.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 June 2020Philips AC3033/30 Expert Connected Air Purifier- Best productThis air purifier is perfect, I suffer with hay fever and could not sleep because of breathing problem, as soon as we put this Philips air purifier in our bedroom all my problems are disappeared, if you suffer with hay fever, I really recommend this product.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 February 2020Would not pair with my phoneThe unit did not pair with my phone. I tried another phone and it still would not pair. There is nothing wrong with my Iphone or internet. I don't think this is worth the price if the app feature does not work, so I returned it.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 January 2021Purified air for your life!I took quite a long time debating, googling and researching and too be honest, we’re dealing with such micro particles here it’s tricky (out of a laboratory) to actually work out what’s going on.Pros:- deadly silent on sleep mode (amazing)Nice to know it’s still doing it’s thing at night despite being ultra quiet.- powerful on ‘turbo mode’I use this after arranging cushions, folding throws, pulling curtains open and closed etc.- reactive on auto modeI use this regularly day to day and it reacts to aerosol sprays, cooking, people walking past etc - nice peace of mind that the air is being purified as the environment adjusts around it.- A definite reduction in dust on surfaces. I suppose, as it’s really just a low powered vacuum that’s constantly turned on... the day to day dust that would usually settle on surfaces in the home are just sucked into the Air Purifier. Too be honest, it’s worth it for this alone! I have a lot of glass surfaces and it’s a dream not to have to wipe them down every day!!Cons:- it’s fairly big but it’s got a lot to do and I suppose you can’t really expect to capture too much rubbish in the air with something too small- it’s a big white eyesore and we tried really hard to put it somewhere where it’s not instantly seen. Obviously in the Phillips marketing and advertising land it gently and beautifully sits aside your stunning leather sofa looking fabulous and cleansing the air in your grand designs glass cube home in the Forrest - but that’s not reality, that’s advertising. So maybe something to consider if your OCD about visuals!- not entirely sure what purified air is or why it’s better than non purified air ... I mean ... I get it ... but hard to tell if it actually makes a difference to the air that I breathe. All in all, I’m here for it, but maybe that’s just so I can be a notch above the rest ... living in my purified air bubble in a global pandemic. Who knows!
Customer questions and answers
- Where do I buy filters and also what filters does it take? There is an alert when filter needs changing - lasts about a year - filter is FY0194 c £20 got them on Amazon
- Can somebody advise on the best placement for the air purifier?Well the purifier does have holes for taking air in all around (360), so logically I’d recommend putting it somewhere open/not by a wall, corner, furniture or anything that would block the holes. I’m not sure about elevation but it does give a modern look to your house/room if you can display it on a desk or shelf
