- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 November 2014I have used a permanent marker to dull them, it's worked wondersUnless you have a very distinct allergy problem ascertaining if these things actually work can be difficult.I don't,but the spec would appear reassuring for those that do.One of most people's major concerns is how loud purifiers are,set to one ie the lowest setting this is whisper quiet, would be difficult to see anybody finding they couldn't sleep,it's really the quietest I have encountered, obviously as you raise the settings the volume increases. The lights are situated on the top and are quite bright,I have used a permanent marker to dull them,it's worked wonders. Also the unit is quite big,but at least it's not ugly. There is a prefillter in front of the one that needs changing, this can be washed or hoovered,so as to prolong the life of the filter you have to buy.The silver front section pulls down and off from the top and is held in place by a strong magnet. This makes getting to the filters very easy and not at all fiddly. All in all it's very good and appears well built and simple to operate and maintain.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 September 2014Well made and effective product but expensive to buy and runQuiet and effective. The lights are far too bright to be used in a bedroom at night but I just put small stickers over them.UpdateAfter 2 months and around 260 hours use the warning light came on indicating that the filter needed replacing. According to Delonghi the filter should last 6 months or 720 hours. They did not think this was a fault and suggested replacing the filter and 'seeing how it goes'. I tried but the official spares site (4delonghi) sent the wrong item but now they have identified the correct item ('Filter pack' instead of 'filter' but this is not an option on the web site anyway!) They will not have it in stock for another 3 weeks (19 Oct 2014). I have tried the Delonghi shop but their line is not accepting calls and you have to leave a message. When available, filter packs cost £37 so if they only last 2 months that is over £200 a year and becomes even more expensive than inkjet ink! After 1 month it can no longer be returned but that is what I would do if possible so be warned. Before you buy check the availability and cost of replacement filters. This has been used in normal levels of household dust for a few hours a day and has been effective but is not practical at this price. Not impressed!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 July 2018Failed after two yearsIn terms of purifying the air, this worked very well for two years and my health has been better for it. The main negative is the motor failed about 2 years and 2 months after purchase (just outside of the warranty). I also found that the filters needed changing more than I would have liked. Overall, 4.5 stars while it was working, but I've given this 3 stars because of the failure.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 June 2014FabulousVery good buy. Cleans the air very well, my livingroom is like a fresh forest full of non-irritant pollen and dust. Really happy I got this, significantly reduced my hayfever allergies this year, really has helped me sleep at night.

Customer questions and answers
- Does anyone know where to get replacement filters from? Amazon seem to have stopped selling them.DeLonghi's website now offers the filters for around £10 including postage and 3-5 days delivery.
- How long should i let the unit run for before the air is cleaned? I've had it on for over 8 hours and it's not making any difference.put the fan on level three and turn on the ionizer and let it run for two hours.
- Anyone tell me how the Delonghi is with dust? My problem is dog dander (2 large long-haired permanently shedding German shepherds) and builder dust.My experience of this machine was it's like a mechanical version of trying to clean all the air in a room by repeatedly breathing in and out. And the filters seem to be incredibly expensive, short-lived, not possible to wash, and hard to get hold of. But what it DOES do is to pump out nice, filtered, breathable air that might help to get a good night's sleep if you are having allergy problems - I found it worked really well to stand it on a chair next to the bed to point the outlet fan over my face. For builder's dust and dog hair -per se- I can only recommend a vacuum cleaner and/or opening the window unfortunately - this is more for the microscopic mites etc. see less
- Does it get rid of unpleasant odoursIt has an active carbon filter, which can neutralise odours.
