Customer Review
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 July 2020Saved me!I previously ordered a Charles Bentley 29kg concrete base from Robert Dyas for £49.99. It arrived broken and I had to carry that heavy thing all the way back to the store to return it. To say I was very annoyed is an understatement. This item has saved me roughly half the cost, arrived 3days after ordering and does the job just as well with no fear of breaking. I filled it with 20mls of water and it is steady as a rock. It can hold a lot more but I didn’t bother because my Parasol sits inside the table. Came very well packaged too. Would highly recommend.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 31 July 2021Bought to hold a whirligig and doing the job so farI bought this for our whirligig after deciding that our ground is just too rocky (being at the bottom of a mountain and all!) for a ground spike. I’ve just filled it with just over two large watering cans of water and given it a test run, and all seems well and sturdy so far. It hasn’t made the whirligig too high for me to reach (I’m 5ft 4”), so I have high hopes for next wash day! I’m sure it will work well with a parasol, as long as you’re not in high wind. The pole- holder part is quite long and mine arrived with both screws to tighten in the pole, so it feels fairly sturdy on a flat surface.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 July 2019Didn't hold parasol steadyThis tipped over in a very slight breeze with a 2.7 parasol in it. I bought it for more stability, which is very slightly better. If you are buying it for safety it does not hold the parasol very stablably.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 June 2019wheres me screw! Not overly impressed as the main reason I purchased this item as opposed to another cheaper make was because this one was shown to have TWO securing threads to hold the pole but mine has only one. Like i said I could have purchased a cheaper one which only had one securing thread
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 June 2019Does the jobNot the most attractive thing in the world but it looks ok. Filled with water it weighs a tonne and it’ll take a hurricane to knock it over.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 August 2019easy assemblesimple to assemble and fill (water), but centre of gravity of this full weight still not adequate for large umbrella in moderate breeze
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 May 2019Good quality, hard wearing plastic.Keeps the parasol upright, sturdy and weighted down. Hard wearing plastic and extra attachment option for different parasol pole thickness. Theses are a much better quality than the white ones used in the 90s
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 July 2021All items included including 2 screwsAll items were included, plastic appears thick and sturdy. Assembles easily. Supports a 2.7m umbrella reasonably well. A slight wobble, only a couple of inches at the top, where the sleeve does not fit in the base as firmly as it could. Stayed upright in some reasonable winds. i am confident this will be adequate for the 2.7M umbrella it is used with.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 August 2019Not as pictureOn the picture it shows two fasteners to hold the pole firm. Mine only had one fastener so not as firmly held.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 August 2020Item not as illustratedSome assembly required on item . my delivery had 1 part not as illustrated another missing. Company whose instruction leaflet is enclosed with item does not respond to e-mail request for advice. The sunshine will be gone before any response from the company Garden and Camping of Northampton. There is no point in purchasing a parasol base from this company which appears to have no consideration for customer after they have sold itemEsc Europe should re evaluate this company immediately
Customer questions and answers
- I brought this parasol base on 10th May, just brought the base out the box’s today, they are only one screw & nut to hold umbrella in. Should be two,I did not get any but a couple of gently hammered in wedges will do the trick.
- Will this stop my parasol from spinning when there is light wind? This will seat below the table. When filled with water the base is heavy. It also has bolt to secure the parasol to the base. I have two bases/ parasols and never had the problem you describe. Hope this helps.
- I need a base that will fit below the bottom bar of my table, which is approx 5 inches from the floor. How high is the top of the base from the floorI have measured, the bottom base has a height of 4 3/4 inches so you should be ok.
- When filled with sand will it cope with a crank and tilt umbrella ?Yes it will but not in strong winds
