I'm afraid I don't speak German which could have made life difficult but luckily it wasn't too difficult to work out how to put it up.It's up now and looks good and well made.One irritation, there's a black chord with a plastic ball on the end, loosely tied to one of the struts. I don't have any idea what it's for and can't find any neighbours who speak German.I tried to call the 'phone number in Germany shown on the Schneider-Schirmer web site but it doesn't function.I don't like leaving negative feedback on here but I don't have much alternative.If someone contacts me from the manufacturer or UK distributor (if there is one?) I'll be happy to review my review.

It was delivered in 2 days, really easy assembly, great quality and easy to use. The umbrella packs away very small when not open so it doesn’t obstruct the garden view, we are so happy with our purchase we are going to buy a second one to use over our comfy seating area! Bring on the sunshine......

Unfortunately, the second time it was used the handle for winding it up collapsed and all the small parts inside fell into a jumble. The umbrella could no longer be raised. We had to return it.

- How do you use the tilting feature please, thank you.You have to press the button on the knicker and hold the parasol above the kinker with the other hand and tilt it to the side until the knicker clicks into place. To straighten, press the button on the knicker and move the parasol back into the horizontal position until the knicker engages. - Can the pole be made shorterDepends, you could cut it, but that's rather permanent. Same diameter pole all the way up.
- what sort of weight base does this need ?Depends how windy it is where you are. Mine is on my patio with about 30 kg on it but it gets very windy here. My weight can go up 45kg (water) but it hasn't needed it yet.
