  R2D2, don't give up your day job!

  I would like to start by making it clear that I have the utmost respect for R2D2, and have had since the late 1970s. He undoubtedly played a pivotal role in slowing down the creeping malevolence within the Galactic Republic, and more recently was instrumental in the demise of Lord Vader and indeed in the downfall of Palpatine’s Empire. His position within the Rebel Alliance was key to its ultimate success and he is quite rightly considered by many amongst the rebels to be the true outstanding hero. His contribution to not one, but two rescue missions of Princess Leia Organa will never be forgotten, as both events proved to be turning points in the long-running fight against the dark side of the force, something the whole universe should be extremely grateful for.On a more local level, R2D2 is revered amongst the natives of Tatooine, for freeing them of the tyranny of the obscene gangster Jabba the Hutt, and he is worshipped (literally) by various tribes of Ewoks on the forest moon of Endor, for his help in taking down the defence shield of the newly built Death Star, and saving the moon’s inhabitant’s from near certain annihilation.However, as a flask, he is SHIT!!! My coffee goes cold within half an hour, there is a hole on his head where the coffee tips out when it’s in my car and when attached to my golf trolley, and it’s almost impossible to drink out of without getting coffee stains all down my Galvin Green polo shirt, which I got off my wife last Christmas.

  Careful using it from cold as it can explode

  I bought this flask recently and we loved it until we used it from a cold cupboard one day pouring hot water in it caused an unexpected pressure explosion. Pushing the bottom rubber base with some force and thus scolding hot water ended up everywhere.It would be great as a science experiment or rocket demonstration!There doesn’t seem to be any controlled pressure relief system built into the flask so for temperature changing environments (camping) and pressure changes (eg. Air travel) I would be very wary.If you buy it then I’d suggest pouring a little hot water in to start and swilling it around and careful of use by kids.

  Doesn't fit car cup holders - how can you travel with this?

  How disappointing. Got suckered in with the R2 decals. Yes it looks very nice, but it won't fit in any of our car cup holders, including our Jeep. Also, the seal isn't as good as "proper" travel cups. It will leak if left on its side and is awkward to drink out of without your drink dribbling down you. There's only a hole, so the top of the cup fills with your drink. Not a well designed travel cup. Good because of the R2 decals, otherwise pass.

  Great Mug to drink from - keeps coffee hot longer then all others I used

  Keeps coffee hotter for longer, which does not smack of metallic taste despite its internal look and feel. The outside is a must buy for Star Wars fans and its easy to grip and handle also. Its also easy to sip hot coffee from given its design and the top does not come off easy. I have 2 of them now and no complaints so far. Only caution is to be careful on drying the underside of the coffee lid after washing it. Is scratches easy so kitchen towels would need to be soft or a standard tea towel to dry it would suffice. Anything more extant and cardboard/stiff like in feel may leave it with scratches on the underside of the lid which does not affect the coffee experience but does technically damage it. Its a very minor issue and the only one I have found so far.

  Really good travel mug and it looks great

  Really good travel mug and it looks great. Keeps drinks hot for a couple of hours. Watch out though if you are going to use it on your drinks holder in the car, because it probably won't fit as the bottom is quite wide.

  nothing special

  It is a good memorabilia but i don't thing it will last long if used on a daily basis. It is a cheap brushed steel mug with a sticker on it, so definitely is not machine washable and i wouldn't even risk to wash it with very hot water. The lid is push fit, not screw on so it will definitely leak if not hold upright. Like every Disney merchandise is over rated and over priced! ..... Nevertheless, it cheers me up every time when i look at it, so no regrets buying it.

  Wonderful for R2D2 lovers like me.As a glass, it is something great to grab and carry with one hand, but it can be done. The flap that moves to drink sometimes gets stuck by coffee.The cover has a rubber that fits, it will not thread, time will tell if it lasts or not.

  It's true that it doesn't fit in the car cup holder, but I use it for public transport and the office anyway, so not a problem. I've had the same mug but from Legend of Zelda and it has lasted me 4 years (I don't wash it in the dish washer though) and it's still good to go, I just wanted a different one. I wouldn't flip it though because it will leak a tiny tiiiny bit from the top, but that's normal. Hopefully this one will be as good as my old Zelda one!

  Fade it does

  The cup looks fantastic.....until you have washed it a few times (hand washed with just plain washing up liquid) the colours now have an oxidised or faded look and the outline looks like it is starting to peel off (doesn’t peel off yet but don’t think it’ll be long) the lid is also impossible to clean properly as the sliding cover doesn’t come out so an accumulation of your drink builds up underneath and makes it smell (I leave my lid to soak in overnight now to get it clean) . Shame as I absolutely love the cup but thought for the money it would be better quality. Also didn’t do this until after the return time is out so you’re stuck with it.

  bought as a gift for a star wars fanatic. He absolutely loves it and uses it every day. He's been using it for over a month now and its still leak proof and scratch free. It keeps his coffee hot for well over an hour too
