  Good lights and easy to install but ignore the LED count

  Solar lights are now becoming a bit of an obsession for me now and this is the 4th pack of lights I have bought as they are great for the garden. I have bought different types for my mum and father in law as they provide some security or illumination but with no wiring, battery changes etc.These lights have only one screw to fix them in position and are narrow enough to fix on a fence post. I have a couple on fence posts in the rear garden, one on the porch and one on the side of the shed. I also have an older set dotted around in different points around the garden so use these as comparison.The lights work via motion and that is the setting I use so they are off until they detect movement. I believe this would make them the most efficient but there are two other settings to give you some illumination once it gets dark with the option of motion detection as well but I prefer them more for security so motion alone is good enough for me.The colour of these is more towards a cold white / blue light whereas my others are a bit warmer. Not a problem except that obviously where they are next to each other, there is a noticeable difference but not for me to be bothered.The main difference I notice when comparing the 2 is that my older lights seem brighter despite them having less LED’s. This is not a criticism of the new lights as such as the brightness is adequate but if like me you have seen a lot of solar lights advertised you will see they all advertise how many led’s they have. I am now dubious as to how much attention I will really pay to that as ultimately these can’t compete with a big mains powered security light but then they are not designed to.These also only went up recently so will update how they last. My others have done nearly a year so far and are doing fine.As a cost effective lighting addition to give some basic lighting to gardens and entry ways I think these are brilliant and if the price of these seems good then go for it (I paid £20 for the 4) but as mentioned don’t be swayed by the number of LED’s.

  Bright reliable lighting.

  We live in an unlit cul-de-sac. It is pitch black at night. I was looking for a bright solar light with motion sensor to light up the back of the house as a deterrent to intruders.These lights have been just amazing, not only are they very bright, they have several useful settings. I like mine illuminated for as long as possible after dark. During the summer months, they stay alight all night (7-8 hours) which is perfect.I chose the second setting, which gives constant lighting on a medium level of brightness and motion sensor that that switches on bright light when movement is detected, just perfect.Setting one gives constant lighting without motion sensing and the third setting is motion sensing only and very bright when movement is detected.I have recommended these to neighbours who are all delighted with them.I have three just resting on a patio table and one is screwed onto the fence and as you can see from the photograph, there is ample lighting for security purposes.

  Fantastic a must have in the garden

  Lovely bright easy to install a must in the garden I have brought 2 sets but will be buying more for sure as spring evenings coming ?

  Brighter than expected

  When the lights initially arrived, I was hesitant about how bright they would actually be but was pleasantly surprised by them. I mounted them to the newly built raised bed at about 2-3pm to see how much power they would gain on a cloudy afternoon - not expecting much. A simple screw at the top fixes them, which is sufficient, they don't feel of the highest quality due to the plastic casing, but good enough for what I need.I set ours to setting #2 (50% brightness with motion detection). I stepped outside just before going to bed to take a photo and they had a nice muted glow at 50%. Luckily for me I disturbed a cat and it ran up the garden, the motion triggering each one of the lights in turn - the photo shows them on full power.Due to cat's in the neighbourhood fronting up to each other, I was disturbed at about 4.15am ... however, I was very surprised to see them still glowing well and even switching to full power when one of the cats disturbed them again.In general, and at first impression I am quite happy with them.

  Solar pannel is useless and batteries die in a month.

  Before I go o to the positives I need to hit the negatives2nd set already they only last a month maximum. This is likely down to level of use but they do not charge well in winter, when it is darker for longer, ie when you need them most.Now I could send this set back and continue the process of works for under a month and return as is allowed by Amazon because they don't work once drained of power even if exposed to lots of sunlight.However, this is where the company that sells them misses a trick. One month on one charge backed up by solar isn't bad but the faf to charge them in-house is beyond ludicrous.A simple adjustment would stop multiple returns.Make the battery removable and supply a top up charge. Add a couple of pounds onto charge price and bingo you have minimal returns and happy customers.Rather than send back I'm getting 4 spare batteries and a charger then doing the work myself.WhyBecause when charged they are brilliant, fit for purpose and just what I need. And if it means every month I change the batteries over winter so be it because as mentioned when working amazing.Disappointed with the solar charging bit though.

  Not as much light as you would first think

  These lights came in a deceptively small package and they are quite a bit smaller than I had imagined. This is not necessarily a bad thing.I charged the batteries up during a very sunny day and the following evening tried them out. The lights themselves are very very bright, but in fact don't light up a huge area around them. So, if you are needing a light to see your way down a pathway at the side of your house, these are fine and do the job well. If you are looking for a floodlight level of lighting, these are not for your purpose.They are reasonably well made, are very easy to use and are pretty much what I would describe as good value for the money paid. Closer to 5 stars than 4, but just not the full five star level.

  bright but unfocussed

  I got these to put in the pathway at the side of our house. They are very easy to instal and are bright. Because they are PIR devices the lights only come on when there is motion. Excellent in that regard.However, there are limitations. Because the pathway has high brick walls on two sides, the lights need to be high up (2m) to get the sun long enough to charge them up. But at 2m the lights, although bright, are not focussed and therefore they are just difussed and therefore do not light up the path itself. Obstructions are lit up but you cannot see the ground to walk safely on. A mains powered security type light is required for that I suppose.

  Long term Reliability Problem - good at first.

  These lights work well at first. Good bright light and good motion detection. I was in initially very happy with them. After about 8 months though I started to get a problem with some of the lights coming on automatically at dusk. I am fully aware of the settings button and that auto on at dark is one of the settings so, at first, I assumed it had been or got reset. I reset it for motion detection but the next night it did the same again and has continued to do it. It does not appear to retain the settings. Then a second light started doing the same - and then a third! (3/4 have this fault.) I keep resetting but they return to auto on at dusk. Now 12 months old and looking at replacing.

  These solar motion sensor security lights are fantastic. You have three brightness levels to choose from which is good if conscious of neighbours opposite having a light shining at their window. Great value for money cannot fault them in any way. So easy to instal definitely recommend.Our brother in law bought a set and after seeing how effective his were we purchased them straight away and thinking of getting more for my parents house.
