L 190 S

The highlight for all exterior areas

The L 190 S combines a harmonious form, rich in elabourate details, with innovative STEINEL multisensor technology for individual light and comfort functions. Equipped with a soft start function, a basic brightness function of 0% - 50% (Watt-o-matic) - as soon as a movement is detected, the light switches to full light output for the set time – and a manual override function, which is actviated by power switch, switching the light on permanently for 4 hours.

Intelligent technology


Human thermal radiation Due to their body heat humans emit infrared radiation. Infrared sensor technology uses this radiation to detect movement and to react accordingly.	The pyro sensor This electric module reacts as soon as the infrared thermal radiation within the detection zone changes. This causes a voltage jump which is then converted into an electronic impulse, which switches the light on or off.	Reach The reach of infrared sensors depends on the direction of movement. With tangential movements (parallel to the sensor) the reach is about 12 m on average, which is shortened when moving directly towards the sensor (radial movement). By turning the multilense the sensor’s reach can be adjusted to either 5 or 12 m. The 180° detection zone can be limited with the included lens covers. To attain the maximum reach the optimal mounting height of 2 m should be given.

2can i purchase the bulbs from you, they look special in the photo on the Amazon website

Hello...I haven't had to replace the bulb yet, but I imagine that they are standard bulbs that can be purchased at most places. I'm surprised that Amazon can't answer your question themselves !

3how do you make the light less bright at night time

The instructions are a little tricky to understand but there is a switch underneath that you can hold until the light is at the brightness you require. If you press and hold it, it will go from dim to bright and back to dim until you remove your finger.

4Followed instructions to set to night-time operation (lux button 5 secs until LED stops flashing) but then light immediately comes on in day light??

Looking at my notes from when I installed it - there are 3 program buttons - wait until dusk when light level is about the level you want the Steinel light to be active, then press left hand button until red led flashes. It should then only be active when motion detected at or below that light level.

I purchased and installed it immediately Sept 16. It is of good quality and looks very smart. The smartest lamp in my development I can say. I have it set up to light up at sun set on dimmed and when the PIR is activated it lights up fully. The dimmed light is enough to see you to the front door anyway. I have used a Phillips bulb 6w (the 9 watt is too bright in my opinion) (See link)https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B010UQK9GI/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1The light is the nearest you will find to the normal incandescent bulb. It has been on every night since installation and I haven't had to change the bulb yet. Admittedly I do think the light is expensive but the house look good and I wanted something to enhance rather than detract the look of the house, (the light the developer installed detracts) after all it is a permanent fixture. I also change there garden lights to something similar but much cheaper. They don't dim.All in all very pleased with the light

Good solid construction well made as expected. the wires were a little fiddly to get right but apart from that very good and setting up the lux and the time on were pretty easy too. you can have it set to stay on through the night hours on a lower setting ~ say 10 to 20% of the full brightness a good idea when using an LED dimmable lamp. Well pleased with the purchase as it has replaced a Steinel fitting that was on the wall working for fifteen years

Do not buy steinel lights they are so unbelievably complicated to set up it’s an absolute joke. I have never had to call technical help to set up a motion sensitive light in all my working life.

I have had this for about 3 years now and it has continued to work without fail under very rugged conditions facing the sea with salt, wind and rain. Top marks for durability. Here is the bad side: although it is made of aluminium, this does corrode and the black coating is detaching, some of the screws have oxidised and can not be removed. So if you are in an area without sea and salt this is great, if not try something galvanised.
