Lovely product .... bit tricky to install
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 June 2018
I've never posted a review before, but thought potential buyers may need a little more information on this item. I'm giving it 5 stars based purely on the quality of the product NOT on ease (or otherwise) of fitting. So, here are some pros and cons.ProsVery good looking and sturdy hanging rail. The hook design is practical and means that hooks won't detach when taking off a utensil.Only time will tell, but the finish doesn't look like one that will mark or become pitted over time, even in a kitchen environment. It doesn't jut out too far from the wall - the pillars are only approx 2.8cm.ConsI have to agree with another reviewer, it really does need a template to accurately mark the drill positions on the wall. I bought two and by using my mini spirit level and the rail itself I was able to get the first one on fairly accurately (out by a fraction of a millimetre, but a slight tap with a rubber hammer on the fixing just corrected this enough). HOWEVER, I had a few more issues with the second one. I wanted to line it up underneath the first and my drill marks made using a laser spirit level came out at the perfect distance apart (I'd measured the distance between the fixings on the first rail to help me with the second). Even after drilling, the measurement between the holes was fine. I can only think that the holes must have been drilled at a slight angle because after putting in the fixings they were out by just enough for the rail not to go on. I redrilled a little higher up the wall and the second attempt worked (so make sure you have some filler to hand!).The little holding 'screws' (that go through the pillar) are very fiddly. Keep the floor around your workarea clear as you WILL drop these .... many, many times! I have a good quality ratchet screwdriver and eventually managed to tighten these by holding them in place with the screwdriver and manually twisting the ratchet mechanism close to the screwdriver head. I'm not normally a sweary person, but I have to admit I did swear .... a lot. And I still don't know what the little allen key included in the kit was for as the main screw needed a Phillips head and the holding screw a very small Flat head.I'm a fairly competent DIYer and have quite a decent set of tools, so just something to consider if you are planning on buying this item.

The allen key allows you to take the end fittings off
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 August 2019
It seems very nicely made. The rod is solid stainless steel and seems to be 3/8 inch diameter.Others have commented that they didn't understand what the allen key is for; hidden inside each end fitting is a grub screw and the allen key allows you to loosen the grub screw and remove the end fitting from the rod. This means that you can remove or add the hooks. Also you could cut down the rod if you need the whole thing to be shorter or have the end fittings in different orientations if you are fitting it somewhere strange (so you could have one vertical and one horizontal for example). You could even make it longer if you can find some 3/8" stainless rod somewhere.

Good looking item but poor quality control
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 September 2019
On opening the rail looked solid and well designed. On closer inspection and subsequent installation, it was evident that quality control was poor. The product comes with an allen key which presumably is intended for tightening the grub screws as part of the install process. However, the grub screws are slotted which requires a flat blade screwdriver! Not a problem, but the grub screws are very soft and so I chose to replace them with decent quality items. In addition the screws to affix the steel posts to the wall are far from long enough and are too small in diameter. The steel posts are internally threaded which is maybe a clue to the fact that wood/metal dowel pins are supplied in some versions, as I’ve seen used in similar products. Topping all of that, there are no rawlplugs supplied or instructions, which may prove tricky for less experienced DIYers.

New kitchen new utensils rack required.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 September 2021
This product is stylish and elegant. When it arrived it was a tad wide, however it came with an Allen key, yet the grub screw in the end barrel was a flat head screw type.Removing the barrel insert by slackening off the grub screw I could see the Allen socket. Applying the key and turning the barrel slid off the main bat carrying the hooks. This enabled me to shorten the horizontal holding bar by the amount required only a couple of centimetres but still.Once cut to length, and reassembled it was just a matter of changing the screws to fit the inserts to my cabinet doors, selecting a suitable length so as not to puncture the front decorative face, I used 3.5mm x 15 which were sufficient for my purposes. The hanging rail once fit to the inserts and the grub screw tightened, you would never know that any shortening had taken place, all it required was a modicum of experience, and basic metalwork tools ie a hacksaw to do the shortening.I would recommend this product to anyone who wants a stylish class finish.Package arrived on schedule with the contents undamaged.

    Sturdy, solid and looks great
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 October 2020
Love this. Looked sparse above the cooker and hanging the rack here has really given that area a lift. It’s a good weight, sturdy and doesn’t look cheap. Very happy with this purchase.

    Generally well made and sturdy
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 July 2019
I have been looking for a well made rack for the kitchen utensils that had decent sized, captive, hooks and this was just what I needed. My only slight quibble was that one of the grub screws that holds the bar to the wall mounts was not properly formed so the slot was more of a rough V shape - but it was still usable with a little difficulty.

12 Hooks Wall Mounted Hanging Rail Rack For Kitchen Utensil
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 April 2021
The actual item is very good, but when the package arrived it had no instructions. Just a packet with 2 screws and an alun key. No idea what the alun key is for as there is no place to fit it into. I have no clue as to how to fit it to the wall, even though I quite happily put together flat pack furniture. I am very surprised as to why there are no instructions with it., Reading the other replies, it seems I am not the only customer who had this problem. Now I have to wait until lockdown is over and I can get someone to come into the house to install it. Very disappointed.

Practical and like the fixed hooks
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 October 2020
I inherited some hanging rails when I moved house and after 10 years have grown very attached to their practicality for things you use a lot. Decided on this rail for my new kitchen as the hooks are attached (I can always add some loose ones if I need them) and have been very pleased with them. The kitchen fitters had no trouble installing it and it looks good.

Takes the weight of cast iron pans. Love it.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 December 2020
This is brilliant for hanging heavy kitchen pans on, I've actually got cast iron pans hung up above my cooker on it and its taking the weight brilliantly. I am so glad I decided to pick this one as its worked out brilliantly. Cant recommended it highly enough for taking weight. Looks very smart also.

    Good looker
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 January 2020
This hanger looks good, very easy to install, took less than ten minutes. Sturdy enough for kitchen utensils and depending on the wall mounting I would say it could handle some light pots and pans. I'm happy with the purchase.

Customer questions and answers

  • Can the rail be shortened?
Hi, I'm afraid that the rail can't be shortened. However, in its defence, I'd say it's the best wall hanging rack that I've bought over the decades. I've also added additional hooks for extra utensils.
  • Does anyone know what the weight limit would be that the rail can hold please? Thinking of using it to hang coats in an understair cupboard. Thank you
I don't think it would support coats. It's only really for hanging kitchen utensils on. I wouldn't trust it with coats.
  • What size drill bit did this require for install?
I really can't remember, probably a 6.5 or 6 masonry bit which is the general standard for most plugs in brickwork. If attaching to wood have a look at the screws and instructions which come with the hocks. It's all pretty standard stuff.
  • is it brushed steel?
It's not brushed. The pieces are very well made and complement a brushed steel cooker backing plate that I have set up
