    Efficiently effective
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 March 2019
Now the mid-Winter Summer has been and gone, thoughts turn to keeping warm for the next couple of months. In a small room turned into an office the previous solution was a convection heater, but that wasn't a particularly good solution since it heats the room from the ceiling down and sometimes the warmth never gets below neck height. I hadn't previously tried a radiator-type heater but the principle seemed good (that there is radiated heat as well as convection) and our central heating radiators in other rooms more or less perform. This particular radiator is oil filled, where a heating element in the bottom heats oil which then circulates and transfers the heat to the extremities. There are three levels of power: 1kW, 1.5kW and 2.5kW (and, yes, I measured them to confirm the figures are spot on) and a thermostat takes care of regulating the room temperature. Unusually for a heater, at least so far as I've taken notice, this also has timer built in so can be set to turn on or off at any of 96 15-minute slots during the day (and night).I had assumed that this kind of radiator would take a while to get going, just like the central heating takes some time to warm up. But this item is actually quite quick and pumping out the heat within a minute or two. And it is proper radiated heat too - the attached thermograph, taken after it had been turned on for a few minutes, shows that the bottom tube is around 94C and the heat has spread pretty much throughout.Speaking of which, the manual warns that the surface will be hot and it shouldn't be touched with bare skin. However, right after that thermograph was taken I was able to place my hand on the top without being burned because the thin fins are kept cool by heating the air. I wouldn't have any worries about touching the radiator in passing, but you wouldn't catch me poking my fingers between the fins.A quirk I noticed is that the power light is on when the heater element is active and off when it isn't (when, for instance, the thermostat has tripped). You'd expect that if you turn the power control to 0, so there is no heating, the light would be off. But, in fact, it is on continuously. However, if the heating is off because the timer is in an off period, the light is off! Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.Apart from that, the heater is pretty much perfect for my requirements and a revelation after using a convector heater. Should have got one ages ago.

Great Value, Great Warmth, Great Spec.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 March 2019
Packaging: minimal, with very few parts.Assembly: I did use the instructions to attach the wheels, it is a simple/clear to do and I could of probably guessed. I did not need any other tools to attach the wheels, I could do it all by hand which makes things simpler! I have a picture of what the wheels look like attached, should you want to know!Operation: This time I did not use the instructions and braved to use the product without them. Within a few minutes I had worked out how to use the radiator and had an additional 2.5 kW of heat at my disposable. The unit itself only takes a few minutes to warm up. I was happy with all of the 3 power settings and the temperature gauge and pleased with the timer, I think you can schedule on/off function over 24 hours at 15 min intervals. This is very helpful so I can plug in and forget! As expected very quiet, it is a oil radiator after all, when operational I did not notice it. Ease of movement, with the wheels it can be effortlessly moved and even moving upstairs can be a one-person job.Design: Movement is easy, design is practical and unit appears of a good build.Price/Spec: I think this is a great price for the wattage and options you get, I have had other units of similar wattage but some of them have been almost double the price, and I cannot see much difference.Summary: Great Price and options (timer/heat options) for the price, I have this just in case the gas heating goes down. This should be able to warm our front room. Would highly recommend if you are after a high wattage portable oil radiator?

Don't buy this product via Amazon
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 December 2020
If you’re thinking of buying this product, or any other oil filled heater, don’t buy it via Amazon, as they’re unable to support you if there is a problem with the product.I’ve recently purchased two of these oil filled heaters, both of which were fulfilled by Amazon. One has arrived fine and I’m quite happy with it, but upon opening the other box and removing the second heater I find this one is damaged and there is now oil all over my clothes and carpet.I’ve immediately contacted Amazon to arrange a return and refund and their instructions are to re box the damaged product and take it to a Hermes collection point to return it from there as they’re unable to collect from my home. There is no concern about the damage to my property or inconvenience. It’s taken three tortuous calls to Amazon customer service and finally they’ve agreed to refund the initial purchase costs (thanks for nothing as thats my legal right as a consumer) and offered me £5 compensation as good will, this was later reluctantly raised to £50 after speaking to a third Amazon customer service supervisor. So I’m unable to return it via a courier as their terms of carriage quite rightly refuse to accept consignments that contain leaking products, but not to worry as according to Amazon the ‘good news’ is that they’re happy for me to dispose of the defective product myself by simply throwing it away.Well how does that work Amazon? This is an electrical item that also contains oil, the manual clearly states that “At the end of the product life cycle, you should not throw this machine into the normal household garbage but bring the product to a collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment” All retailers, including online retailers such as Amazon, are legally responsible for the correct handling and disposal of ‘E-Waste’ - It’s not my problem to deal with Amazon, it’s yours. So in balance, I’m left with:A refund of the purchase price for the defective product I was sold - thats my legal right.A £50 goodwill credit - that can only be used at Amazon.Clothes and carpet that are covered in oil and will require cleaning. And I’m STILL in possession of a defective, oil leaking product, that I can’t return via courier and I now have the burden and inconvenience of trying to dispose of in a legal and ethical way rather than the ‘throw it in the household trash’ as multiple Amazon customer service representative have urged me to do.If you need to buy a product such as an oil filled heater, don’t buy it from an online retailer who’s unable to support you in the unfortunate scenario where the product is defective.

Highly recommended and at a good price.

This is one of the most efficient radiators that I have had. Firstly, it comes with casters so it’s easy to move it around to the location that’s best for you and it has a nifty little cord storage for you wrap the cord around rather than just lying around on the ground, this is a neat and tidy radiator. When I switched it on I was pleasantly surprised to find that the heat emanated from the radiator fins quite quickly so you won’t have to wait too long before you start getting warmed up. The heat also seems to radiate in a 360 fashion so there is an equal distribution of it rather than just above or to the side of it. This also means that the heat distribution is effective and efficient. As well as having the obligatory power switch dial, you also get a handy thermostat dial to allow you to control the temperature, this is better than other radiators I’ve had where there are just switches that are heat settings so rather than just “I”, “II” or “III”, you get to adjust the heat to exactly what you want. Then there is the timer option which gives you control over the exact time you want the radiator to come on/off. These options make this a very versatile radiator that gives off heat quickly and it’s not weak either. You can get quite toasty if you want to!All in all, if you want a heater that does what you want it to do and for a reasonable price, then you can’t go far wrong with this one.

Complete waste of time and money.Me and the Mrs are expecting our first and our room does get a little chilly in the winter but nothing adults can't handle, but for a baby I know I need more warmth, and I refuse to have fan heaters in my house as they rinse your pockets and the heat output is bad for you. Opened the box eager to switch it on and see how well it functions and warms my room, put the wheels and all on, only to find out it doesn't even switch on. It ticks away like it's working overtime, left it for 20mins thinking maybe it's just the light not working, come to find out it's stone cold.I have ordered a return, won't be looking for anymore bargains and go for a top of the range brand such as De'Longhi. Make your own mind up.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 March 2020
Held off writing review until we’d had it at least a month. Was bought for a friend who struggles financially and her home heater costs a fortune for just a very tiny 1 bed flat. The range of this one should have covered the entire flat with bedroom door open but as hopeful as we were, this was not the case. It also takes a good 25 odd minutes to kick in but does let off a nice radiator heat. If just in the bedroom (which is medium to small sized) it works a treat once it’s heated up, but does not work on whole house as hoped (as per given reach). Fix for this is to just drag it into the bedroom or living area when settled in that room. We have it on a long extension lead so just move it wherever lol. For an idea of efficiency, it cost her £4 electric for roughly 12 hours of continuous use on high (this is dragging between rooms and overnight, her place is like a freezer). Hope this helps.

Exceptionally good heater and at a decent price
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 March 2019
I got this as a temporary measure as the heater in my flat stopped working. This is actually a lot better than the existing heater. After unboxing you have to attach the wheels, which is pretty easy, and since it's on wheels it is easy to move around (I've got a hard floor). There's a grip so you don't burn your hands. I wouldn't say it's heavy. There are three power settings and adjustable temperature within that.It warms up reasonably quickly and gives off a lot of heat. I've only used on the low settings and that was plenty of heat.Probably a weird way of saying it, but I'd say it gives off a nice heat. I've used halogen and fan heaters before and the heat from this is more pleasant. It's not directed at anything so the heat goes around the room nicely. With the timer you can go out all day and come back to a warm flat or wake up in the morning to a warm room. Instructions are clear and it's very easy to use. It's certainly one of the better purchases I've made recently and I really can't find a flaw (and I've really looked).

Simple controls and gets hot quickly
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 March 2019
This model has simple dials to control temperature and power settings. I think these dials make it easier to use than radiators with digital push button controls. The elderly in particular should find it easier to use. The only slight difficulty is with the timer as that is a bit complicated. The radiator is quick to heat up. It takes five minutes for it to get hot which is a good time for an oil filled radiator. It is silent in operation except when the thermostat quietly clicks on or off.The temperature of the fins can get too hot to touch, so some caution is advised here. It gets far hotter than my gas central heating. A small radiator like this will have no problem heating up a small or medium sized room. I have not come close to pushing it to its limits as it gives off plenty of heat even on the lowest power setting. The castor wheels are smooth and make it very easy to move around.

Customer questions and answers

  • Can it be left on over night
We have left it on timed to go off and come on again through the night
  • How much per hour to run
Depends on your enerytariff but I reckon about 23/25 p per hour. Of course it has thermostat which knocks off when temp reached so actually I find it quite economical
  • Is it safe to leave on when no one is around?
No heating appliances are ever recommended to be left unattended, however the item is fitted with an overheat protection shut off feature and a timer.
  • Can this radiator be placed against a wall. I read that some need to be 90 cm from the wall
Yes and I had mine against the caravan whilst in the awning. Great heater but the legs keep needing to be tightened
