• When I unplug the desk lamp and plug it back in, does it remember the last color and brightness setting?
  Yes it remembers last used settings

• Can I power the lamp with the usb plug? I eoilf rather use the power from the mains instead of using my laptop to power it
  I use my old USB ipod charger to power the lamp and it works perfectly well so I don't see why any other power supply you trust and of the correct output should not do the job equally well. I actually have a standard 5w and a bigger 12w PS and although the lamp says it's output is greater than 5w using the bigger 12w makes no visible difference to the brightness. Common sense says keep an eye on the temp of your PS just in case, but mine gets barely warm after even after several hours use. Hope this helps. see less

  The lamp comes with 3 switchable K frequencies that supposedly relate to daylight, a warmer reading light and a sharper colder light. Whether any of these actually relates to true daylight I can't say, but it does give you some choice. I use the light for fairly intricate electronic work so the cold light works best for me but when my wife uses it to read she changes to the warmer frequency. As I understand it true daylight lights can be very difficult , hence expensive, to make so it really depends on whether you need it to be truly daylight or whether you can get away with an approximation. And although its reasonably bright that's over a fairly small area only. Hope this helps. see less

• Can you change the clamp and where do you get them?
  I cannot see any reason why you shouldn't change the clamp if you can find one but I can only suggest you measure the diameter and look for something online.
