- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 November 2018Chick looking tripod floor lampBeen using the IKEA’s basic standing lamp for the past 5 years, so needed a bit of a makeover.Package Content:1x Drum Lampshade2x Lamp rings1x Stand with power cable9x pieces for the part of the standThe installation of the tripod floor lamp is straight forward and doesn’t really need any assistance or support to do so. You don’t need any experience of working with electrics either. There are 9 small pieces that are part of the stand – 3 for each leg of the stand. One by one connect the 2 pieces to the base of the each side of the stand. That was easy peasy eh.Now comes a bit of a tricky part – I think. Unroll the drum lampshade on the flat surface facing the inside section of the lamp towards you where there installation grippers are. You will have to start rolling the lamp rings by pushing the ring into the grippers and continue with the slow pace till you have reached to the end. The last bit of the lamp shade will overlap each other where you can secure it using the attached Velcro.NOTE: When installing the lampshade to the gripper make sure the ring that has the lamp support is facing inwards towards the ceiling and not down downwards towards the floor, else you will see the bulb. I have both the images attached.Unscrew and remove the connector on the lamp so you can install the lampshade. Once you have secured the lampshade on to the lamp, you can now install the bulb. I used the same LED bulb that I had on the IKEA floor lamp. Once you have plugged the lamp into the mains, press the foot switch to ON.NOTE: You will need an E27 bulb, if you haven’t one already you will have to buy one.The light is certainly a good replacement for my IKEA floor lampshade and goes well with the décor in my lounge. (Just ensure that in the bottom part of the shade the spokes of the frame point upwards) Gives off a gorgeous light - the photo doesn’t do it justice. We put a Diall E27 bulb in it and when it’s on you can see it through the shade- looks really cool. Excellent price- I was looking at similar lamps around £175!

Here’s what I like about it:* easy to assemble* tripod legs are sturdy* the cord is inside one of the legs so it looks neat which I really like because I do not like messy cords in the flat* it’s lightweight so I can transfer it easily whenever I want to. Or if I want to move it to another room* it looks very decorative even with it’s simple designI just had to be careful when assembling the lamp shade because if not handled carefully might cause a dent. The material could have been more thicker so it’s not see through when the lamp is on.Overall I like the floor lamp because it looks so nice in our living room with it’s minimalist design.

If it had been a third of the price I might have kept it, but I can't stand knowing it cost £64. The lamp shade is NOT a normal lampshade. It is flimsy coloured cardboard that comes folded up, you have to insert the rings to give it shape and keep it upright, and any slight touch leaves a dent in it that spoils the smooth effect. I like a bargain, and would have paid £20 for this, but not full price.

As the others mentioned, it's worth buying an interesting light bulb as it's visible through the shade when the light is on. The legs are slim so I'd keep the lamp away from playful children. I had to readjust the shade a few times during the assembly, but with a bit of patience it lined up just as I wanted it to be.

It is very good quality. Strong. It gives off a lovely amount of light to add warmth to our lounge. It was very simple to assemble also. We would have loved it if they did different size versions do we could have purchased a matching smaller one for next to the other sofa.

The lamp shade was key for me as I was looking for something copper but it does not come with an actual shade - it's a piece of copper coloured film which you have to wrap around a frame. Don't waste your money.
