Ceramic Dinner Set: Compare 877 UK Prices, Tracked Daily

A ceramic dinner set forms the foundation of any table setting, and understanding the material differences is crucial to finding plates that will last. The quality of the clay body, glaze finish, and firing temperature all determine how durable and food-safe your plates will be. Cheaper plates often chip easily and may harbour bacteria in microscopic cracks, whilst properly fired ceramics resist thermal shock and everyday wear.

Porcelain and bone china are non-porous, meaning they won't absorb stains or odours, and both withstand repeated dishwasher cycles without degradation. Look for a smooth, glassy glaze with no visible crazing (fine cracks), and always check the manufacturer's firing temperature claim—higher temperatures (above 1200°C) signal superior strength.
