    Love my Penguino!!!!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 June 2019
Purchased this Delonghi after much deliberation and I'm so glad I did!!! Arrived today at 7:20am and was easy to unpack and set up. It is heavy but rolls along great on the castors. The little spaces they call handle grips aren't deep enough to really help, too shallow. However I'm very pleased indeed with how it looks. I've turned it on and at its lowest setting of 18degrees you can feel the coldness. Noise level was really the most important factor for me and I'm a realist...no portable aircon unit is ever going to be silent despite advertising as such. However this unit is by far the quietest I've experienced. Other cheaper models just sound like tractors. This Delonghi isn't completely silent but even at the highest setting I'm still able to watch TV with the unit about 4ft away from me and I'm not that bothered by the noise. If you switch to the lowest level silent mode there is a relatively noticeable difference but again not silent. Its an aircon unit and if it's cooling down your property in my opinion it's an acceptable trade off. Only regret I didn't buy it last year!!P.s for those that need to sleep in a totally silent room then I'd suggest to wear ear plugs. I do if I'm sleeping in the same room as the unit and I personally sleep fine, again it's a trade off against sleeping in on awful hot room. I also put the unit on a programme that only turns the unit on if the temperature rises above what I'd like it to be. Very useful.

    No warranty in UK
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 August 2019
Just a warning for UK buyers. I have a faulty model. Delonghi provide no after sales support in the UK and refer you to the seller if you phone them. In my case the seller had disappeared from the Marketplace so I have a useless 2 year old £700 air con unit. Is this 2 year old air-con model ‘fit for purpose’ and would you expect it to last more than 2 summers? My previous Creda lasted 15 years!!

    Not fit for purpose

I kind of hope that I had a defective unit as after it running for 1hr it switched off and displayed the error "HL" meaning that the water tank was full. I drained the tank and it started working again..... after a further 1hr the unit switched off again and the same "HL" error was displayed and again the tank was full.I have an old noisey 12000 BTU Amcore unit i had been running for around 2-3 weeks almost 24/7 and drained that to compare and it drianed less after weeks of very heavy use than this did after just 1 hr on a warm (not hot) evening! Not what I expected from a brand new £700+ PAC :(

Manufacturer needs to look up silent in the dictionary.

This product is a failure on every level. It’s cooling performance is moderate. However it is far from silent unless you consider washing machine level noise acceptable. To make matters worse you get no help from the manufacturer. It weighs 37kg and if you live in a multi storey building with no lift good luck returning it and nobody will help you return it anyway. All this is good for is to waste your money. Please beware before buying.

Bought one worked ok for a week but then started making a very loud noise similar to a tap on full extremely annoying when trying to sleep also started to struggle cooling down a pretty small room.Second one ordered as replacement and straight away was exemely noisy and vibrating itself to death something was obviously no assembled correctly.Contacted dehlongi customer service and they are useless kept asking for info I had already given and says open 9am till 5pm still no one there between those times.Sending both back for refunds completely fed up with this brand now! Not worth the price!

    Don't Buy this product!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 August 2019
Don’t buy this product! Practically you get no warranty. In the package, there is original warranty card, but the De’Longhi Group won’t accept it. they say: „the warranty for air con units lies with the retailer” And Appliances Direct UK as a seller says: „i can see your warranty is held with De'Longhi.” So, finally the defective airco is my problem. only.

    Noisy but blissfully cool!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 August 2019
I ordered two of these. They are both very noisy and make a rattling sound at times. I used to own a much cheaper portable air conditioner a few years ago but that was extremely noisy. With these air cons we can still hear the t.v without turning it up too loud. My wife and I can also sleep undisturbed but we have situated one of them on the landing and keep the bedroom door open. The reason I have given them 5 stars is because they are very efficient at cooling the house in a reasonably short amount of time. We had a hot spell a couple of weeks ago with the outside temperature at 35 degrees and our rooms were lovely and cool.I don't believe there is such a thing as a silent portable air condition and these are probably as good as you'll get for your money.

Great portable Air conditioning unit and very effective
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 July 2017
Great portable Air conditioning unit and very effective; we was suffering from the rare flash unbareable summer high temperatures we get in the UK having had the British Gas Electrician remove our ceiling fans in the livingroom and bedroom after upgrading our fuse box and demanding nothing metal on the lighting so we needed another way of cooling a hot house and our sleepless nights. The De'Longhi PAC AN112 is exactly the right size and ability to deal with our requirements, we have a 20 Square metre livingroom and it dropped the temperature from 25 deg C down to a nice cool 18 deg C in about 20 minutes and even cooled the adjcent computer office room 2 degs C lower too. Advice to potential buyers, always buy an extension vent hose because the standard semi rigid hose supplied is not long enough to take the hot air outside the window. I purchased a flexible 6 metre 127mm vent hose at the same time I order this machine and it works great, slightly to long but it took the heat outside of the house. The air con has two modes, normal and silent, on silent you do have to turn the TV volume up slightly but it works. all the usual controls and does exact what it says in the video and advertisements. The remote control helps too, saves on you having to get up to change the temperature settings and even activate the silent mode if you wish. Wish I had bought this several years ago, a great purchase.

    An excellent Portable Air Conditioner
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 July 2018
An excellent Portable Air Conditioner, a bit pricey but worth it, I live in a very large 2 bedroom flat, I opened the doors + stairs and it manged to cool the whole flat under 30 mins, unlike other air conditioners you do not need to empty the reservoir every time.

Kept the room cool all summer
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 January 2021
This worked very well at keeping our room cool during the hot summer weather. Without using it at full power, the room was being cooled very rapidly. It does make a bit of noise so we switched to the fan function at night which worked well. The unit is relatively heavy so you don't really want to move it around too much on carpet, although the wheels help a bit with that.I have not used the Real Feel Technology much, we prefer using the simple Air con function.Very happy with the purchase

This may mean additional cost regarding an electrician to fit a suitably placed socket and possibly a glazier or a builder - depending on your DIY skills to make a permanent 100% sealed outlet! I know this additional cost and nuisance is a pain but l have owned this type of air conditioner for years and have tried everything until l “went the extra mile” and had the outlet hose connected professionally - it saves money (as if there is a “leak” to the outside the unit will use more energy and constantly be switching in and out as it is also coping with outdoor temperatures too) Good quality Air Conditioners arrive with a “cup” or you can indeed make one - if you wish to move the unit around and use if for another purpose! DEFINITELY Folks get it fitted with no outside air coming through - you will notice a huge difference and this will also extend the life of your equipment too - as the Air Conditioner will work 100% as it is supposed to! Anything else is a noisy and expensive mistake - although ok for short term whilst you organise work! see less

  • How loud is this ?
Loud…63 dBs… down to 55 dBs if you are over 4 meters away. And about 52 dBs if you have silent mode on. The advertised could’ve of 47-50 dBs is a measure of sound pressure, not power level. The worst this about this unit is the rattle from the compressor.

There are videos of this unit showing all the different ways to vent it. My unit does not have a 24 hour clock, It comes with a timer, so you can programme it to either switch on or off, maximum time span of 6 hours. Would have been better if you could program it do operate on auto. see less
