Perfect For The British Weather
In warmer climates, sail shades are designed with small holes in the weave to allow hot air to escape and to keep it from getting too warm underneath the sail.

It is more waterproof than I expected but not something you would leave out over winter. The only complaint is that it sags in the middle so you have to elevate it quite high - it definitely doesn't hang like shown in the photos. If you're attaching it to a high wall I'd say you can't go wrong.

I would recommend this product, and I would also recommend buying the sail fittings.
