Greened House towel rails are beautifully made to exacting quality standards and will look amazing in your bathroom. To make things easier for you to control, and ensure your electricity costs are kept low, our towel rails come with a 7 day programmable timer with built-in room thermostat and an energy saving PTC heating element, to give you one of the most cost-effective towel rail on the market. The timer allows you to set not only the times you'd like the rail to be switched on, but also the temperature you want the room to be at during those time periods. Every time period can have a different temperature. This means you can set the timer once, and forget about the rail - no need to keep worrying if you've switched it off. The towel rail is designed to operate at a temperature of around 65-70 degrees C using a high specification PTC heating element which is IP64 rated and CE certified. The element will operate at full power until the towel warmer reaches its working temperature, input power is then reduced in order to maintain this temperature, making it more cost effective to run than a standard element. The rail is made from low carbon steel, plated with 40 microns of copper, 15 microns of bright nickel and then a minimum of 60 microns of chrome plating for a superior finish and corrosion resistance. It is filled with a glycol solution to prevent rusting and freezing. The towel rail has a 5 year warranty, the element and timer have a 2 year warranty

    Great value, easy set up.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 December 2019
Was a bit sceptical after a lot of reviews mentioned difficulty fitting and programming the thermostat, but went for it anyway. So glad I did.For the money, these rails are fantastic. Mounting was straightforward with clear instructions, and wiring in the thermostat a doddle. I chose to wire in the thermostat next to the flex outlet and ran the wires through the wall between the two. In effect placing the thermostat in a similar position to where a thermostatic radiator valve would be. Looks neat and isn't something that needs fiddling with often once you have set up your heating schedule, so isn't an issue having it close to the floor.Programming the thermostat was easy, contrary to most of the reviews on here. There was a slight error in the instructions though - you use the clock button to progress onto the next timing schedule, rather than the timer button as stated in the manual. The timer button is used to toggle between the desired temperature and the start time of the selected period.Overall, a great purchase which I would recommend to anyone looking for an electric towel rail, and at a fraction of the price on the high street.

A five starTowel rail with a one star controller and instructions.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 November 2020
Installation was difficult because the instructions were for a flat towel rail, not the curved bars received. The heater is very heavy and the wall turned out to be plasterboard which needed special plugs. The instructions were for a flat towel rail and the curved bar needs slanted pads (provided but not explained) which must be oriented correctly - also the grub screw holes need to be correctly oriented for access with a screwdriver. It is not possible with the curved bar to slide on the heater as suggested for a flat bar - the clamps need to be undone first. The controller needs to be mounted in a deep back box (not provided) and does not appear to be proofed against condensation and water (no gaskets etc) so I drilled a hole through the wall to mount it in the next room (the cable is a metre long). However this means the temperature control is redundant - worse the anti-window opening software may turn off the heater unnecessarily. Setting up the controller is difficult as it is very user-unfriendly -even the symbols are the wrong side of the buttons so that even the demonstrator on the video clip made mistakes. I suspect there are software bugs in it but it does seem to work after many attempts. A real problem is that there are actually two programs (not mentioned at all in the instructions) and both have to be set. I suspect one is for weekends and the other for weekdays. It helps to realise at the start that the program will not turn off the heater unless the temperature for that period is set to low. Also that pressing the temperature period button is necessary to engage the program when you've got it set. Given that the temperature function is not necessary when mounted outside the bathroom, we'd have done much better to replace the controller with one of the reliable easy to use Timeguard digital NTT0x series timers. The heater takes about 45 minutes to reach its operating temperature. The supplier did give a phone number and was helpful when phoned.

Good build, great look, works really well

Arrived well packaged and in good condition. When unpacking I noticed there was some slight leakage but after checking online this is to be expected from transit - there have been no other leaks since. The instructions could be a little clearer, but with a bit of DIY experience and common sense it was not hard to install the heating element, mount on the wall and wire up.The thermostat works great and was not difficult to program with the instructions provided. It gets nice and hot when on and we are very pleased with it.It should be noted that we fitted ours outside our en-suite so it is actually in the bedroom (and we don’t have wiring and sockets in the en-suite!!)

Good but beware of installation regulations.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 February 2020
Note - controller has to be sited outside the bathroom due to electricity regulations. So we had to knock a hole in a stone wall and get an electrician to install, then plaster and redecorate the hole in the wall. Works well but more costly to install than expected.

This electric rad looks good easy to fix up but the timer is difficult to set up only need to have rad on for less than 1 hr to dry towels yet the heat it keeps in the rad is impressive over 1hr after the rad is off there is plenty of heat still

Heats up well and plenty of space to dry large towels

Simple and easy to fit. Gets really warm. The controller is a bit over complicated, would have been good to have a simple on feature for fixed time to simply dry towels.

Electrician who fitted this heated towel rail liked it
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 May 2019
This heated towel rail has been installed in our en suite, which previously had no heating. The electrician took about an hour and a half to wire it up, hang it, and fit the thermostat. So far we are very pleased with it and recommend it. The package was mislaid in the post but after contacting the supplier it was traced to somewhere 20 miles away; it only took a day or two to get it delivered to us. Very satisfied.

Customer questions and answers

  • Is there enough cable to mount the electrical connection on the right hand side?
    Yes
  • What is the Wattage for the 1600 or 1800 x 500 size?
I think its 300 watts (i.e. 0.3 kilowatt) so it help s keep the chill ff a small bathroom but you really need another heater as well. Its great for drying towels.
  • What is the output wattage
300w. Very effective in a normal sized bathroom.
  • Does it need filling with any fuel oil etc?
No, it comes filled up with water. Just make sure when the heating element is fitted, the water is not spilled. You can always top it up but not full to allow for expansion when the heater is ON.
