Its south facing and the sail was the ideal solution to cut down on too much UV rays. The canvas was much lighter than I expected but this didn't impact its water resistance. In fact its lightness proved a bonus when erecting. I would recommend getting one of the fixing kits available as the ropes that came with the sail tend to loosen with wind. Overall I'm happy with my purchase.....only wish we had a bit more sun.
