- Is it suitable for reading and general desk work?Very much so. It comes with a desk/table clamp to secure it so you can manoeuvre it to suit your needs. The broad width of the lamp helps to reduce shadows on the desk and the light emitted doesn't cause eye strain like some other lights.
- how wide dies the clamp open...I am worried it will not fit my desk which is 5 cm thickThe clamp is clamp is 8 cm high and opens to 7.5 cm allowing for the tip of the clamping screw. The clamp is also 4 cm deep. I've had this lamp for some time now and have found it to be excellent .

I have to say that this is the best craft lamp that I have ever bought. I am able to bend it low enough to light the underside of my sewing machine and I can sit at a 6' tablel to colour with several grandchildren and have the light evenly spread across the table. - Can i buy a new plug with cableWell if the cable is not long enough you could use an extension, if the plug is broken then it is just a normal plug.
