It really is far more elegant and refined than in some pictures you see of it - even my 'lit' picture looks a bit garish, but that was just the time of day and the flash setting on my camera. I had already purchased the matching item, which was the art deco vase lamp and I then bought the egg because I was so impressed with that. Hence, no complaints at all - it's all good at the moment. Long may it continue.
