- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 March 2021It's ok - but I think it's overpriced at £45I bought two of these at £44.99 so expected them to be pretty good - in reality, they are "ok". I don't feel ripped off but I also can't strongly recommend these. Within the bit where you insert the bulb there appears to be some sort of cardboard-like material that at first I thought was part of the packaging and tried to pull it out but it won't budge. Seems odd, I don't know why it's there, and if I was more anxious then I'd wonder if it was a fire risk.The style of these is for you to use the wire to either raise or lower the bulb with the pulley - which is a nice and attractive look. However, you'll notice that there is an extra part of the product that you are to screw into the wall that the wire then goes through and is presumably intended to hold the lamp in position once you've set it at the height you want. There are two issues with this: firstly, it's an ugly bit of rubber (the product pics on the amazon page don't show you a close up of it, for good reason I would think), and not the same nice-looking material that the rest of the lamp is in; secondly, I find the wire can still slip through and so your lamp ends up hanging lower than you wanted. I've had to fix mine in position using other means and I don't display the ugly rubber. Not the end of the world, but not great for a £45 lamp fixing.Finally, I think the screws provided were pretty cheap because I was screwing them into some wood, one of the heads of the screws literally just twisted off the body and came away in my screwdriver (my hand-screwdriver, not even an electric one). So the body of the screw is forever stuck in the wood now. Again, not the end of the world because (a) you can probably manage with only two screws; and (b) you can use your own screws instead now that you've read this! But again, for £45 it's not very impressive.Maybe I'm expecting too much, maybe I'm out of touch with the cost of light fittings these days, but I deliberately chose this product on the basis that it was MORE expensive than other options on Amazon and therefore I was expecting a decent quality, so I'm a little disappointed.
