Customer Review
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 April 2020Important- read this review before installing. This tap uses a different method of mounting. A base is mounted to the sink first then the flexi hoses are fed through and connected ( hand tight) and then the other end of the hoses and connected to the supplies. No standing on your head trying to tighten connections behind the sink! There were two issues:-1. The most serious in my view, the kit is supplied with Molybdenum grease to lubricate the o rings. This does not comply with the UK water regulations as it is poisonous (not potable) and shouldn’t be ingested on any account as it’s carcinogenic. Use a potable lubricant instead.2. There is a recessed Reinforcing plate supplied to fit under the draining board. But the back nut does not fit into the recess without modifying it.Apart from these two points it’s a good tap.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 December 2018A 5 year guarantee should surely indicate a level of quality.I purchased this in February 2016 encouraged by the 5 year guarantee that came with it. I had it fitted by a qualified and fully registered plumber. However, after 18 months I noticed water was starting to seep from the spout swivel joint and the on/off lever. It was a little annoying but wasn't causing any damage because it was minimal, irregular and was only seeping on to the surface of the sink top. However, a few weeks later the 'leak' suddenly progressed to a more persistent dribble and I started to get notifications on my phone from my Hive Leak Detector (supplied to me free of charge some months earlier by Hive) that there was a possible 'dripping tap', usually when I was in bed in the late evening. It was obvious that the fault was only going to get worse and it did!Now you would reasonably expect that a product for which Bristan were willing to give a 5 year guarantee would be of sufficient quality to at least outlive its guarantee period. But for me that was certainly not the case and has resulted in a complete lack of confidence in the brand. Perhaps I was just unlucky. Who knows? On the plus side, I have to say that the service from Amazon has been first class. When I phoned them to attempt a claim against the guarantee, there was no problem at all. I was immediately offered a replacement or refund without quibble. Naturally, I opted for a refund and arrangements were made to credit my bank account within 5 to7 working days. In order to 'keep' the refund I was required to undertake to return the faulty tap within 30 days via their carrier, free of charge. This gave me the time to arrange its removal and the installation of an alternative tap (which was NOT a Bristan). As a result of my experience, I can't recommend this tap or Bristan, but I can recommend Amazon and their customer service.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 January 2019NOT impressedThis monobloc tap is neither easy to fit nor is it well designed. The tap was fitted to an existing s/s sink to replace another Bristan unit - it was fiddly to fit &, afer a day or so, a weepwas detected from the base stem - the two grub screws appeared to have worked loose, even though they had been well-tightened, & I feel that this was occasioned by water pressure (well within the unit's specifications) forcing the tap body upwards - very, very, disappointed with Bristan!Amazon were, as ever, superb & the taps were returned for a full, & quick!, refund - NOT RECOMMENDED!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 May 2021Great tap, let down by diffuser/aeratorI initially ordered a different tap off here for £20 which looked similar but was total rubbish and when fitted it leaked so it went straight back. You get what you pay for so decided to buy this one instead and I am so glad I did. It feels really solid and high quality. You get two flexible tails complete with service valves which saved me some money. The design looks great and the ability to fit and secure it to the sink from the top is an excellent idea. Looks great when installed and has a very smooth action of spout swivel and on/off lever. My only issue is that there was no aerator fitted, it was just a plastic insert which makes sure the water flows straight down into the bowl. Fortunately, the one from the tap being replaced fitted and it makes such a difference to the operation - no hot spots in the water flow when hand washing, looks better and saves water - perfect. Bristan, if you are reading, fit an aerator.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 January 2021Easy to operateI like these levered taps as opposed to some of the more recent designs where you have to pull a side handle towards you. Firstly people are confused as to how to use the latter and secondly the pulling makes the taps loose in their fitting. The above are different in that the lever does not pull at the tap itself and does not dislocate it so easily. I installed it in a rental property as I find it to be a more sturdy item. The plumber who installed it praised it and said it was a quality item and better for later adjustments than some other brands.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 October 2020Recommended by my plumberMy previous tap was leaking badly, I asked my plumber for advice and he recommended replacing it with a Bristan tap. I bought it, he installed it, a month later we have no further leaks - fingers crossed! And it looks good, too...
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 July 2020Just what I wantedJust what I was looking for, my Husband fitted it ( he is not a plumber) ours is a fairly old house with old pipes, that said hubby tells me it was easy to fit, he had to make a little modification to the pipes but it was not a big deal. It looks great and works perfectly.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 November 2016excellentPlumber was inpressed by this tap. Now it is fitted, so am I. It is a well made and good looking tap which functions as a good tap should - regulates water flow and does not drip. It also seems to mix hot and cold streams better than previous taps have done.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 September 2018Quality Tap.You can tell right away about the quality of this tap the way it is packaged and the feel and weight of it. Fitted it no problem going by the instructions which were easy to follow (And i am no plumber) and it gives a good flow and non drip which is why I replaced my old one. All in all, highly satisfied.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 March 2021Looks great but.......The tap design looks great and is easy to fit bit is a different matter in use.The leaver is tilted towards the back and, in hard water areas, limescale forms very quickly on the flat surface of the leaver unless you wipe it dry after every use. I didn't realise this would be such a problem as it didn't happen with any of the previous taps.Limescale also build up around the ring at the base of the tap and this is more difficult to remove. So to sum up I would recommend the tape for use in areas where the water is soft but not in hard water areas.
