- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 September 2021Beware sourdough, your time has come!Like the proverbial hot knife through butter. This thing goes through the toughest crusty loaf like... well, a hot knife through butter. Can't believe the difference between this and my old (but regularly sharpened) bread knife. The old one was a workout for each slice, this is a doddle. The grip is excellent and I love the fact that it's dishwasher safe. The construction is solid and I expect to get many years' use out of it.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 October 2021Best ever knifeGood weight, comfortable grip, brilliant price for an all round great piece of kitchen kit. My second. Just make sure you don’t put it in the dish washer.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 September 2021A stylish and well balanced multi-use knife. Cuts through root vegetables as easily as salad.Your browser does not support HTML5 video. First thoughts:ProsStrong and incredibly sharp blade.Well balanced with a cleaver-like blade shape.Dimples to minimise sliced food sticking to the blade as you cut it.Easy to handle and control.ConsNothing so far.A great all purpose knife for the kitchen and it is incredibly comfortable to use.The blade shape allows for good control over large vegetables but also small delicate items like baby tomatoes and varying types of salad leaf.Details and things to note (See pictures and video):Full Tang knife so the blade metal extends from the base of the handle all the way through to the tip of the cutting edge, so the weight is evenly distributed and well balanced.Indentations just above the cutting edge of the blade allow slices of food to fall away from the blade more easily. There’s a flattened area on the upper part of the blade (non-cutting edge) that you can apply some pressure to if required when cutting or slicing through food.Final thoughts:This is a fairly sleek but solid looking knife. Stylish in its simplicity but its performance has been well engineered and I’m enjoying preparing food with it. I’d definitely recommend trying one of these and if you’re used to using rectangular blades and cleavers, then you should feel at home with this. If you’re not, then it’s something you should definitely try, as much of the cutting and pressure work is done by the blade itself. An excellent bit of kitchenware!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 August 2021Good quality knife at a reasonable price! This knife is the perfect utility size; great for chopping smaller veggies possible a bit big for peeling. I'd say this was a great all-rounder knife. The knife has a vey solid grip with a full-tang meaning it is metal all the way down to the base. It also has a formed metal bolster which is very comfortable to use.I'm not sure what the handle is made from; a sort of rubberised plastic maybe? But it's very comfy to use.At first I though this knife was too handle heavy but in-use it is very well balanced. The science bit.....The blade is "ice hardened" stainless steel. What this actually means is that it is high Chrome steel which is cryogenically heat treated to form more 'Martensite'. This is proven by the fact the blade is magnetic. This should retain a sharp edge for some time although stainless is more difficult to sharpen than Carbon Steel.I really don't like the "control" points or dents they've added. They seem like a gimmick.Overall this is a great general purpose knife for an amateur kitchen chef and at 23 quid isn't too bad value. A pro-level Henckels could set you back 2-3 times the price. However a Sabatier at this size is a few quid cheaper.Overall a good knife!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 August 2021Razor-sharp breadknifeWe've had a Zyliss mandolin slicer for many years and it's lasted the test of time, so I was keen to go for this breadknife. It's elegant, it fits nicely in the palm of my hand, and it goes through a loaf like your finger goes through water. It's so sharp you can create a swerve pattern as you go down. The blade is thick which adds to the control. The handle is crafted in a way that you're not going to get bits slipping out, or crumbs jammed inside it.While that makes it a superb tool, it did wake me up in the night thinking about what the kids would do if they got hold of it to cut off some French bread ( it didn't help that I watched a video of a woman cutting a coconut in her hand with a meat cleaver the same day ). Previously we used one of those knives in a block, which over time fall apart and peel because they've been put in the dishwasher. It's 'ice-hardened' -I don't really understand what that means - supposedly it stays sharper for longer. The paradox is that a very sharp knife is much safer than a blunt one. This gem promises to produce thinly-cut sourdough slices to eat with soup and make nice sandwiches for a very long time.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 September 2021Very good performance for a mid-priced chef's knifeI like this knife a lot. It’s one of my two favourite knife types (chef’s knives and santoku knives), and is one of the nicer chef’s knives I own. The handle is weighty and has a nicely shaped grip around a metal core. The blade is beautifully sharp with a good amount of curvature to it, so it rocks well when chopping. There’s an indent at the start of the spine to position your forefinger, though I’m not sure what function (if any) is served by curvature to the top of the spine towards the tip end of the knife. I find this really well-balanced, and easy to use. Second amongst those I own only to my Global knives. Equally good for prepping vegetables, meat, and fish. At the price point (mid-range) it’s a more than decent knife. The one thing I didn’t like about this knife was the packaging. This was overpackaged, in materials where a lot of unnecessary plastic had been used. The knife came in a box, but this had a magnetic-closing book style front that opened to reveal a plastic window displaying the knife. Inside the box, the knife was presented in a clear plastic tray. The plastic is recyclable, but it really seemed as though so much of it was not needed in the first place. The knife came with a little tip guard cover on the end, but not a storage sheath.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 September 2021Very sharp and perfect for good quality bread slicesThe Zyliss Comfort Pro Bread Knife is great, we've been using it to cut bread (sourdough which I can never find sliced), tomatoes, onions and cucumber so far. It's sliced effortlessly through all of them. The knife is large and heavy but is weighted well so never feels uncomfortable. The thick blade does make it harder to slice more accurately with thinner slices, so it's not good for cheese and doesn't do dainty tomatoes well, as you'd expect from its size, but this works to its advantage on bread (which it's designed for) because it makes it easier with the long wide blade to cut decent quality slices accurately instead of using a sawing motion that we've had to do with smaller knives. The knife also comes with a small plastic guard for the top when it's not in use. I'd have loved to have seen a full length plastic guard for it but this is better than nothing. Overall, though, that's the only thing I'd add as a negative and it's not overly important, otherwise the knife is pretty great.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 September 2021An incredible knife. This is a fabulous knife. The build quality is amazing, it is made from top quality steel which is incredibly sharp and a good thickness and weight. It is shaped to suit your hand, with a handle that curves up to sit in the palm of your hand, making it very comfortable to hold .The knife blade runs throughout the handle to ensure that it is securely attached. The duvet towards the end of the knife blade is great to use to apply extra pressure when cutting hard items or for using the blade like a mezzaluna for chopping herbs etc. I like to sharpen with a whetstone and subscribe to the little and often theory and this is easy to just pass over at a 45* angle to keep it as sharp as when it came.I would not put this in the dishwasher because it can be wiped clean easily and dishwashers are too brutal on sharp knives. This shape knife has a million uses in the kitchen and will be used for many years to come.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 September 2021BeautifulWe really love this knife. We’ve bought Zyliss products in the past and have a high opinion of the brand, and we have not been disappointed. The knife is beautiful to look at and has a lovely curved handle which is comfortable to hold. The blade is thicker than others we have but with an incredibly sharp blade edge which is apparently ice-hardened; a term I’d not come across before but apparently means it’ll keep its sharpness for longer. The blad is also full-tang, running the entire length of the knife including through the handle and this gives it a balanced feel in your hand and also means no worries about the blade snapping. It’s a joy to use and slices effortlessly, the dimples in the blade reduce the occurrence of slices sticking to the knife as you go and a quick wipe clean after use rather than sticking in the dishwasher will keep this knife in tip top condition!
