- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 April 2019My first ceramic knivesYour browser does not support HTML5 video. Hi, These are my first ceramic knives and must say how impressed I was with them. They are incredibly sharp, watch my video it says it all :)I know you have to go careful with what you cut, no trying to chop through bones etc and how you handle them, no dropping them as they will shatter. but for fruit and veg, they are really sharp and taken care of should last ages :).
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 May 2019Turning yellow (UPDATED)Nice looking set at first but after a month lightly using the 2 smallest knives the white blades are turning an ugly yellow and no longer cut smoothly, although I haven’t attempted to sharpen them yet.UPDATE:It’s been 3 months since I bought this knife set and 2 of the blades have chipped! I’ve emailed the seller because I want my money back, 3 months is unacceptable for a set of knives to last. Doubt I’ll get my money back after reading another review that had the same problem after 2 months of use and had no luck getting a refund.....Very dangerous and terrible quality. Would not recommend buying.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 April 2019Great knives, good value.I've never tried ceramic knives before but these are brilliant. I'd definitely buy them again! They are very sharp! Definitely keep the plastic guards on them if you chuck them in a drawer like me! First to keep them sharp and also to stop you cutting yourself! They cut through meat easily and make light work of veggies. I like the coloured handles which mean if you're in a professional kitchen you can keep to the cross contamination rules. Super knives!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 March 2021good qualitynever easy to buy knives online without proper feel. we were reluctant to buy but really need them as per lockdowns couldn't go to shops. we are happy with this set so far, materials seems good and good choice of sizes and good price value. will edit review if anything goes wrong.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 August 2019Really sharp with good ergonomic handlesAwesome. Been using these for 6 weeks now and they are really good. Fit nicely into your hand and really are razor sharp. I would recommend that you do your cutting on a wooden or plastic chopping board as edges are so fine that you might chip or dull them. I also recommend that you put them in their sheathes when you are soaking them in the washing up bowl otherwise you might cut your hand when handling them as I learned to my cost - not a criticism of the product of course more an admittance of my carelessness!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 July 2019Don't buy - blade snapped unknowinglyNice to look at it. Great to cut with. Then found one of them on the draining board with a massive chunk missing out of the blade. Not durable enough to cut salad and potatoes apparently. Never dishwashed, just rinsed with hot water and soap. Do not buy.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 July 2020Ceramic or not ceramic, that is the choice! I’ve learned a lesson from this example. So these are good sharp knives and I knew what I was buying. But I’m disappointed with how quickly they have stress fractures and chips in them despite caring for them well. These have never been in a dishwasher. But just through handling on a chopping board and using the blade guards.Lesson learned.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 July 20202 knives have chipped/snapped within a yearI purchased these knives just over a year ago and thought they were great - nice sharp and very comfortable to use. However within the last couple of months 2 of the knives have broken - the blade has chipped/ snapped. One whilst I was cutting a normal sandwich and the other when I was washing it up by hand. As a result I think these knives are dangerous and would not recommend.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 May 2019STAINED AFTER FIRST USE!On first use, I chopped a carrot, and blade was stained orange! It didn’t wash off.I soaked the blade in a jug of stain remover (for laundry) overnight, and the stain has gone - but these Jelson knives are supposed to be un-stainable, and are supposed to rinse cleanThe knives were inexpensive. They cut very well, and are easy to grip, so I’ve decided to keep them.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 August 2020Not sharp at all! These knives are not sharp at all. I've had a set of kyocera ceramic knives, which are expensive and amazing. I thought I would try this cheap set to see if they worked. They do not. They barely cut through a tomato. I going back to buy Kyocera now. These knives are going in the bin!
Customer questions and answers
- Are these suitable for arthritic hands? The handles allow for a good grip while the blades are so sharp that you do not need much downward pressure to cut most things. A sliding motion aids with hard veg like carrots or swede. But they ARE sharp!
- Can you use this ceramic knife to cut fish for sushi?yes
- Do I need to use a special sharpener?no - just treat the knives with care, avoiding scraping sideways over hard surfaces. That way you will ensure long lasting sharpness of the blades.
- Is there a difference between the black ceramic blade and white other than colour?I didn't see a black blade, but have had black glass/ceramic blades in the past and there was no difference.
