Customer Review
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 December 2019THIS IS NOT CONTIGO BRANDIf you are looking specifically for a Contigo brand travel mug... this is NOT IT. I was lead to believe that this is in fact a Contigo mug as it is on the same page as actual Contigo mugs but when I received the parcel it turned out it wasn't. Bad advertising on the part of Amazon.I can't say anything about the quality of the mug itself because I just sent it back.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 July 2020Coating destroyed after three washesThe leak proof mechanism is good, but the coating came off after only three washes! Very poor quality. Also, warmth is kept just for a couple of hours.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 April 2020Really liked it, but had to return itSo, I really like contigo travel mugs. They're leak proof (haven't let me down yet) and they retain heat for hours. Basically, this does exactly what it says it does. However, I have one quite big complaint about this product, and that's the cleaning. The mechanism to hold and open the spout is held together by a spring. When you flip out the mechanism to clean it, you put pressure on that spring. If you're scrubbing the 'push to clean' part you can snap the spring, which is what happened to me. Once the spring is snapped, then it won't open and close with the button, it will just permenantly hang open.Becuase of this, I had to return the product. Amazon was excellent about the returns as always.I will mention that I ended up buying the Contigo Transit travel mug instead, and it has a slightly different locking mechanism. This has proven to me much sturdier than the West travel mug and I am still using the Transit today with no issues!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 March 2020FINALLY! A travel mug worthy of travelling with...Over the years, as my coffee addiction worsened, but my concern for using single use cups heightened, I tried various travel mugs to differing degrees of success. Some turned out to be too large necessitating the use of one of those giant camping backpacks, some leaked, some were difficult to clean, some failed to keep my drink warm for anywhere near the advertised times. However, I spotted the Contigo West Loop Autoseal Travel Mug or as I like to call it "the cup thingy" on sale on one of Amazon's ubiquitous "Deal of the Day".Now, every other travel mug or flask I've bought has, rightly or wrongly, come in a box from the manufacturer, the Contigo West Loop Autoseal Travel Mug (it just rolls off the tongue) was shoved in a lightly padded envelope from Amazon, which raised a bit of concern when I went to pick it up. Once home, I found that everything was fine.Washed and dried it, and the very next day I was at my local Greggs emporium ordering a latte and one of them there Steak Bakes (a fine bake but it comes a distant second to the magnificent Festive Bake). It was about then that I found out that the Contigo West... the cup thingy was a little on the small side to hold a large latte. The lid screws in, which pushes on the liquid, causing it to spill over. So I have to take a few sips first, before being able to screw the lid on. I found the same situation in Starbucks. It's just ever so slightly too small. Now, with liquid, I have yet to have any spillage from the cup thingy. It has an autoseal function and a locking mechanism to prevent any accidental pressing of the autoseal button when the cup thingy is lolling about in your bag. The blurb claims it'll keep your drink hot for up to 5 hours, which I guess is sort of true, as 2 hours is indeed "up to" 5 hours.Still, despite this, the cup thingy is a great little buy, I've only been using it for a few weeks, so it's possible too early to tell if it'll stand the test of time, but so far, so good. Whilst I'm not sure I'd pay the regular asking price, I am glad that I used a freebie Amazon voucher I had, and bought it on a "Day of the Deal", as it made the price a lot more palatable.EDIT: After a couple of weeks of use I have noticed several nicks and scratches on the paintwork. Sure it was bound to happen, even with careful washing and use, but I didn't expect it to happen so soon. I really want to drop it a half star, but as Amazon currently doesn't allow this I had to drop it a full star, but I really want to give this product 3 1/2 stars. I'm even more glad that I got this during a "Deal of the Day" and used a voucher to get it at a much lower price.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 June 2020Dishwasher bewareWell it didn’t even last six months before the black coating began to peel which is a bit of a shame. Can’t say it’s been used regularly which is even more of a pity. It’s just the appearance mind, it still functions the way it’s supposed to and holds the heat really well, but I’d probably shop elsewhere.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 March 2020Watch Out For Cleaning the TopI love this product for ease of use, style and general functionality. There is one flaw in when you click the mechanism in the lid back to clean part of the assembly falls out (see picture). I am going to exchange it and see if this is a one-off, or design flaw.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 January 2020No leakingNice design, no leaking hot or cold drink. If you want to drink from this mug, you need to press and hold the button, so sometimes is not very good. The mug is easy to clean, but the cap causes a little trouble.. the price is too big
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 February 2020Glad I choose thisThere are so many vacuum flasks / mugs to choose from. This one fits nicely into my car drinks holder and doesn't catch my hand as I change gear. Holds exactly one medium Americano with cold milk from Costa. Keeps it warm for around 3 hours. Comfortable to hold and zero leaks (so far). Although the internal workings in the lid click out to allow cleaning, it's still fairly difficult to get in there and clean thoroughly, but it's OK as long as you're not too obsessive about removing every last coffee stain.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 December 2020Best mug and investment for a unique drinking experience.AWSOME mug , love it and will buy the full range at this size , it’s the first mug / flask I’ve bought and I took my time choosing .It was the sleek design that caught my eye with the many different colour choices, I went for the gun metal in the end .The cap or lid is extremely safe and is nicely designed to flip open to clean easily as well as the safety it adds , now I tried it out and it leaks if you don’t push the pressure cap that seals the lid tighter and in doing so this is what keeps the liquid hot or cold and fizzy because if you just pour in the drink of choice and rely solely on the sip release you’ll lose heat , liquid if knocked , not much but leakage nonetheless and the fizz in cold drinks . As I said it’s a first time for me buying this type of mug and I’ve certainly never spent more than £7 on a mug , so when I seen in the comments that said “ this is not a contigo mug so I sent it back “ I went to their site and found the very same plus a whole range of different ones , so you can imagine my relief and surprise that not only is it original and true , but many more like it .I do love this mug and I would recommend it to all as I’ll be buying not just for myself , but for birthday and Christmas presents / perfect .
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 May 2020Would have been 5 stars, but for 1 small (personal) gripe....This is an amazing cup for keeping my coffee hot for hours on end- I burnt my mouth a few times in the beginning, because I was not expecting it to be so good (I've only ever had cheaper alternatives)......so be careful!Whilst it's my go-to cup that I use daily for coffee, I can't swap it's use when I want to take a different drink out on a walk (i.e. cold water), and that's because while the mechanism inside does allow you to get right in and clean it, it is made from plastic, which the coffee then clings to no matter how often or well you clean it. That coffee taste then transfers into other drinks.Overall, I'm very pleased with it for it's intended purpose (coffee drinking), but just feel like it loses half of its appeal if you can't also use for cold drinks (I'm aware that's a case specific grumble as, for instance, a tea drinker may not have the same issue......but I suppose this is a case specific review!)
Customer questions and answers
- Is this product Made in China?Where else could anything else possibly be made! :(
- Can you drink from it with the lid off, doesnt show a picture with lid off ?Yes. You'll just have a metal cup to drink from.
- It arrived yesterday in a see though plastic bag not even sealed. Should this arrive in any packaging or box? I don’t mean Amazon packaging.Yes the 2 I ordered came in cardboard boxes with the name of the company on it and instructions with it. Do you think you may have bought a seconds or used one.
- Does it drip after you have take a sip . I am having troubles with mine . I have to have a tissue in hand.I do struggle not having the mouth/lip groove like other contigo travel mugs. This is what I believe result it drip/dribble not the actual mug leaking. I feel it would be much better with a dip/groove to allow ease of drinking
