- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 June 2020Pretty but delicate, I wouldn’t recommendI bought these as I’d seen them in a local garden centre but the one box they had some of the glasses were broken. I now know why....they’re extremely fragile! We broke one dropping an ice cube into it and the other on the side of a plastic washing up bowl! So we’re 2 glasses down having used them just 3 times. Pretty glasses but too delicate so I can’t say I’d recommend them. I’ll be sticking to a well known crystal brand me thinks.March 2021....they’re all now broken because of ice cubes!! Bit if a design flaw in a gin glass IMO...I’ll stick to the crystal glass brands I know from now on! These are all fur coat no knickers
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 August 2020Very fragile! As other reviewers have said, these glasses are so thin they're practically not fit for purpose. A real shame as they looked great, but one box arrived with a broken stem (which the seller replaced immediately - definitely a bonus!), but then 2 of the replacement glasses have now broken within a few uses. We were aware the glass was thin and fragile, so have been as careful as possible, but we still had one glass develop a serious crack across it, and when my husband dropped a cube of ice into another it literally smashed an ice cube size hole through the glass...........so fragile is maybe an understatement!? I can't recommend these, unfortunately, unless you're planning to pop them into a display cabinet as an ornament! Disappointing.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 31 July 2018Great gin glassesLove these glasses... just a bit different with the patterns... daughter saw them and wants some... very well packaged too, box in a box in a box.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 January 2019Not really fit for purpose (ie as a gin and tonic glass)The reason why this shape of glass has become popular for gin and tonics is that you can get a lot of ice in them and therefore the ice does not melt so quickly and dilute the gin and tonic. I have now broken two glasses when adding ice, the first one because I used the ice machine in the freezer, the second one when I was adding the ice by hand (I realised they were a bit delicate after that). They are that fragile (too fragile given my first sentence). To give extra context, I have Riedel Crystal wine glasses, so I am used to using delicate glasses... I even used some of those goblets as gin glasses until we got some "proper" gin goblets. On the plus side, they look lovely.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 January 2021arrived whole! a bit too light.very swift delivery (12 hours) and the glasses were not broken, which is something these days.We have been using this model for many years for our whisky and other spirits, and really like them. Good size, and the design is pleasant without being too obtrusive. It should be noted that Mikasa is putting less and less glass into these, with time. We order a set now and again (breakage will happen with glasses), and have noted an evolution towards lightness: first, Mikasa made the glasses a good millimetre thinner than initially (which was an issue as it meant they would break that much more easily), and now, as we found out from this last order, they made the foot of the glass hollow. I guess they save materials thus, which is a bit naughty, as the glasses are not getting any cheaper. This evolution does not make for perfect handling: I preferred them when they were really heavy (and more solid), and the hollow in the foot always traps water during dishwasher action, which means it is still there by the time you take them out of it.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 December 2018Look pretty but paper thinAlthough these gin balloons look attractive, they are made of paper thin glass - both the body of the glass and the stem. One broke immediately when I pushed it against the ice dispenser of the fridge; and the sides of another shattered simply dropping an ice cube into it! I bought these for my husband's birthday, but we'd gone through half of them in a week. Bought six sturdy gin balloons from Wilkinsons instead for the princely sum of six quid! They may be plain but they will last a lot longer.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 December 2019Flippin lovely glasses for the money.Love these glasses and love that they’re all different with unique designs. I had a bit of a scare the first time I washed them as I thought the pattern had been removed on one of them and was about to write a review here to mention it. However, once fully dried it looked absolutely fine and I’m back in a white wine glass happy place again. Not sure what the seller recommends, but I’d suggest hand washing only, just to maintain their patterns.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 January 2019Pretty, but fragile.Beautiful glasses and my wife was very pleased with them. We always treat them very carefully, wash gently by hand and dry in a similar fashion, but one of the glasses has already developed a small fracture in the bowl. Very disappointing to be honest! Otherwise, beautiful glasses!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 May 2020beautiful but fragileThe first box arrived and on open could see one was broken, returning and replacing was easy!Second set looked lovely, really nice style and (I thought) great value....However one developed an odd crack in the middle of the bowl after only a couple of uses. Last night when the ice was put into another one a whole appeared..... most odd indeed as it is in almost the same place as the crack on the other one!Very disappointed and need to try to contact seller..... I've since read that others have said they are fragile. Seems true! No parties, only me and a G&T..... pity!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 November 2020First class service, customer service amazing and product incredible! The service of this company was amazing. Originally the glasses were delivered and just left on the floor and sadly two were broken. The supplier replaced them immediately and now everything has arrived the quality is fantastic. The pictures online do not give them the credit they deserve. They are very high quality and far superior to the look. I would definitely recommend these glasses, the company, and the full range. They are fit for royalty, pity we are on lockdown as I would have invited them round :-)
