    Water mess.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 December 2018
I'll start with it right away the hinged lid lets this product down from the start its too heavy and when up it's off balance by this I mean that it constantly wants to close because the lid isn't open enough also after the cooking has finished and the lid is full of steam and condensed hot water lift the lid allows all this to run from the lid and it's seals all over the pot lid and down the out side of the cooker creating a load of wet mess this is unavoidable with this hinged lid.I also think the audio alarm is extremely quite too with the extractor hood going and any other noise in the area it's was very difficult to hear when it was sounding off.The menu system id very complex too just to get to the browning option unlike other unit where you just need to press 1x button i.e. (brown) with this unit you first neat to select meat from the 3 options then select brown then select time then select start then you need to wait for the unit to reach temp then your selected time will start. From my experience this is not a quick one button cooking device and not for the person who just wants an easy when finished put it in the dishwasher type of product. It does when used correctly produce a good meal and I will use it in the future to cook more stews but it's a far cry below the other multi-cookers I've used.

    Very Good
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 June 2018
This is the fifth multicooker I have tested. We looked around, read the reviews and initially bought the Tefal 45 in 1 Multicooker. The 45 in 1 is less than £100 and is excellent in all that it does. Sadly it did have a fault on the screen and so was returned, but for the money, it is very hard to beat it. This product is almost the same price as the 45 in 1 and so I was expecting great things. I must say, I am a little less impressed with this Pressure Cooker compared to the 45 in 1, only in the sense that it takes a bit more practice with the amount of liquid needed. If you get it wrong, you can end up with watery sauces or a Pressure Cooker that stops. This is quite a large crockpot type of pressure cooker. The technology is very clever, but you do need to read the instructions very carefully to avoid issues. It easily and VERY quickly makes nice tasting dishes. You must add more liquid than you usually would use. If it senses that there is not enough, it releases the steam and stops cooking. You then have to add more liquid and restart the cooking cycle, which is a pain to do.The speed it cooks at is incredible. We made a stew and it was done in 12 minutes. It can cook a chicken in about 40 minutes. We have taken the pot to our kitchen in Portugal and it is saving us a fortune in electricity bills. Electricity is very expensive in Portugal. Everything from curries, stews and chilly con carni's it has cooked to perfection. There are no real downsides with this cooker apart from ensuring there is enough liquid in the pot. The Pre Set programmes are very intuitive to use, the display is clear and the manual operation of this cooker is very easy and allows for great flexibility. So I think the unit is very good and clever. Overall, if you want a super easy way to cook this is the unit for you. If you are happy spending £99 (at time of review) then you will not be disappointed. I am happy to Highly Recommend it.

absolutely love it.....So full disclosure: I am rubbish in the kitchen and have no interest in cooking, I've been known to have a pack of biscuits and a cup of tea for dinner.A line in the sand was drawn and effort was made to have healthy dinners. I don't know how to work all the functions, slow cooker setting is where I am. Things go in, dinner comes out, pyrex boxes for the freezer.. anyone struggling for time busy work life etc you cannot go far wrong. If I can make dinners with this, literally anyone canI wish I had one years ago.

    Excellent multi-function cooker
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 August 2018
This is a very well-designed cooker. I've cooked a bolognese sauce in five minutes under pressure, once the meat and onions had browned, it cooks baby potatoes in six minutes and they taste gorgeous. I now use it several times a week for anything from vegetables to recipe dishes. My only regret is that there aren't more recipes as I'm not familiar with pressure cooking times. Otherwise, a great purchase.

This pressure cooker is great, but as the lid is attached when opening the condensation goes all over the work top, a good idea for limited space but needs a better design, instructions a bit difficult to understand but once you have got the hang of it it works really well

Yes Darling! Feed me NOW ?!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 May 2020
This is one nifty kitchen gadget. My first attempt was a smashing vegetable stew with Moroccan spices - and oh my, this could not have turned out better!Used the browning mode (with lid open) first to sear the veggies as well as to season. The next step was to pressure cook and I made use of the DIY mode after watching some YouTube videos. I recommend this chap, as he gives a bit of a walkthrough in how to use this function as the official instructions a a bit lacking (search: ‘Tefal CY505E40’ and ‘The Garner Collection’).I fully closed/sealed the lid and set the cooker on ‘low’ and ‘6mins’. It takes the cooker about 10mins to gain pressure after which the (in my case) 6mins countdown starts. The Cooker will beep when finished and switches automatically to the keep warm mode.Success guaranteed and 10s across the board ??

    Fantastic purchase
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 April 2019
Very easy to use once you come to grips with it, make sure to read the manual first as it is not intuitive. It doesn't take a genius to work it out though.Works brilliantly, specially the pressure setting for cooking beans. My only issue is that it can take a long time to heat up and cool down, so if you choose a 10 minute setting, it would take around 20-30min overall. One can plan around this but it's not ideal. Also be careful when using the browning function, the automatic temperature is very high. It's very easy to keep clean and feels a lot safer than pressure pans, I am terrified of those.I can put it on and walk away when making soups, etc which makes it a lot easier to do light evening meals.Overall, highly recommended.

I really wanted to like this but.

Brought this after our previous Tefal multicooker broke (lid catch) which I loved. It was perfect for cooking rice of any type, grains , steaming , very easy, simple to use.this is nothing like that, it's a fancy pressure cooker with added on bits.it's not that simple to use , it's not obvious , and it's limitedDIY mode doesn't go low enough to raise dough. To cook things like brown rice or grains is a pain. For Tefal, I feel like this is a lost opportunity/

  • I want to buy a replacement gasket for my cooker but not sure which one to go for. Help!!!
Sorry, I don't know the answer to this. Perhaps try emailing Tefal services. I lost the recipe booklet, and emailed them to ask about buying a replacement. After a short wait they emailed me a printable copy of the booklet, at no cost, so I was very pleased
  • Where is it made? Is it made in China?
The product is made in China
  • How long does it usually take to build pressure before it starts pressure cooking? Mine seems to be spinning for 20 mins before it begins
Yes, that's about right I'd say. Mine takes at least 15 mins to reach pressure.
