Connecting difficulty. May be a one off.

A nice compact unit that fits neatly in a plinth. Reasonably quiet when running & emits the heat expected.I would like to have rated higher but I had to cut the heater housing around to be able to attach the upper hose. The angle of the matrix inlet/outlet ports was such that the fittings especially the upper one could not be turned to tighten it as it was so tight against the heater housing. Sorted with pair of tin snips! Otherwise a good little heater.

Great... The gentle ambient heat of a radiator without the loss of kitchen space
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 December 2018
Brilliant a alternative to the wall space needed for a radiator. The fact that the heat comes from the central heating system makes it cheap to run, the heat itself feels less harsh than a fan heater so just gently warms the room comfortably and the fan is really quite. Not a cheap solution but I'm really glad I went for it.

More heat of a candle if You swear you get more hot Air
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 February 2021
Good points: Well packaged and easy to install. Amazon have got the wrong HxDxW on there page do your own search. After installing the space saver it did not work. Bleed SS5 and balanced home radiators. Turned home thermostat from 22 Degrees up to 25 and it started blowing cold air. Buttons where on the correct setting Red and small fan. Turned Thermostat up again to 30. All rooms boiling hot Smiths Space saver warm air from around 100mm from face turned to boost mode back to cold air. It may be down to the location as it is at the end of the run of rads.Turned down lock Sheild on 3 rads to give it more demand. No joy. I like the design and have returned it hoping it is just a faulty machine and have reordered a SS9. I will see how there refund operates and feed back.

    Works with Evohome valves too.

Great to have as an extra heat source in the kitchen. I have placed an evohome valve on mine and linked it to an external thermostat so i can decide when i do or dont want them to come on.works a treat.

Customer questions and answers

  • Will this fit under an Ikea kitchen cabinet?
This depends on the gap that you have under the unit but will fit in a normal plinth gap of 6'' (150mm)
  • Can i connect a wall control thermostat to this unit so only comes on at a set temp / turns off at set temp??
No need. It connects to your central heating pipes (mine is near where a rad used to be) so runs off your ch timer/thermostat.
  • What temperature does the water have to be to bring in the thermostat?
My one comes on pretty much instantly. I’m guessing around 20 degrees. Not sure of the exact figure
  • Do you ship to Republic of Ireland?
    Yes, we ship to ROI
