- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 March 2021Much louder than 403 modelWe have bought it recently through the Amazon and it was sad to see how quality has changed. We have 403 model already more than a three years and so happy with it, but decided to buy another one to other room and found out that the 405 model is much more noises than 403. The motor became much louder now. To be honest, I don't need the advanced touch display I need a good silent product back.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 May 2021Effective but very very poor appVery good air filter, effective for me (bedroom, asthma) and quiet. BUT: very very poor wi-fi keeps dropping, effectively disabling the unit - and the app is complicated and ineffective. This aspect really requires urgent improvement, with the manufacturer contacting owners for upgrades.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 June 2021Disappointed customerDont waste your money!it is very loud!worse than my tower fan but a lot expensive. And i am so disappointed with Amazon! The price has been changed four times within three days! From 499.99 to 449.99 to 410 to 396.87 now! Within three days! I can not belived how they cheat the money from customer! It is bulky. I wish i can return it! But it will be a headache to pack it back and send it back!

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 July 2020Purified airThis is a good quality air purifier that is mostly metal framework rather than plastic and feels robustly constructed as a result. That robustness does not come at the expense of making this a weighty unit and it feels surprisingly lightweight and is easily moved thanks to integrated handles on either side.It comes with the filter already installed but with no instructions about whether the boxing needs to be removed or, when you have pulled the filter out to check nothing needs to be done like removing any plastic protective covering before use, which way it needs to go back in. I believe nothing needs to be removed (there isn’t any plastic wrapping) and have guessed which way to replace it, but instructions should be included in the manual or on the filter packaging as it isn’t obvious. There is an app to enable remote controlling, except I couldn’t get the purifier to connect to it despite several attempts. I have currently given up as I don’t believe it adds a lot to proceedings other than the ability to increase or decrease the fans remotely. The onboard controls merely tell you when the filter needs to be replaced (about every 6 months) and allow you to increase or decrease power. On the lowest setting, airflow is good and the purifier is virtually silent and very unlikely to disturb sleep. On the highest, you can hear it working and it is not something everyone will be able to tolerate in terms of noise levels, but it is by no means extremely loud. You can feel the difference in a room where this has been running for a short time and allergens are definitely reduced leaving air fresher and more breathable.Aesthetically, this is a plain unit that is larger than many alternatives and less easy to tuck out of sight as a result. Bear in mind also the need to leave a gap of 4 inches for air flow when working out if you have room for it. But it does work well and is something most people will tolerate being switched on during the night, so it is an absolute boon for hay fever sufferers.Update: check you can get spare filters before you get this. I wanted to get a spare as they need to be replaced every six months but I cannot find it anywhere at the moment - the one that comes up on a search is the wrong shape. So check before you buy as filters for most purifiers seem to be in short supply currently.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 July 2020Air quality improved and helped in odor-eliminatingI already have a small air purifier from Blueair but this one is a beast compare to the small one. I have this placed this in the living room where we spend most time of the day, also my dogs are only allowed to be there and sometimes the whole living room smells like a kennel :). We also regularly do Yoga and Doga sessions there so you can imagine... I really needed something to get rid of the odours. The Blueair Classic 205 Air Purifier arrived in a huuuuuge box, I was scarred for a second wen I've seen it first but obviously the actual purifier was a lot smaller than the box, because it was securing all around with polystyrene. The setup is really simple just need to plug into the socket and turn it on but to get out the most of it and make it smart, i have downloaded the app from the Play store to enable remote controlling. I like the design of this gadget, it's minimalistic, simple but stylish suits well in my modern style house. The housing is made from plastic, and it only has 3 touch sensitive buttons on the tope one for the Wi-Fi, one for setting the airflow speed and one indicates the life of the HEPA filter (LED will flash if ned to be replaces). In the first couple of days I really didn't notice much of a difference. I was keep tuning on a couple of times on the lowest speed of airflow. After reading the user manual more carefully i started to use the second speed for about 30-40 minutes every 2 hours than I started to feel that the smell from the pets is gone. It comes with a HEPA filter which knows as good for capture and removes allergens, smoke, pet odour, mould spores, & germs and removes up to 99% airborne allergens. Big industrial air filter even aircraft cabin air system uses the same HEPA technology. To extend the life of this filter I open it once a week and vacuum off the filter which turns grey with dust/filtered items and pet hair. I have found only two downsides of this Air purifier:1. little bit noise especially on the highest air flow speed, I would not recommend to use this in a bedroom or in a small area.2. It doesn’t have a built-in monitor to check the air quality. This was more likely designed for bigger areas, living rooms, studios, offices etc. It's compatible with Amazon Alexa which makes this beast even more smart as i can turn it on and off with voice commands. The big equation of this days now is that this Air filter with HEPA will protect us from COVID? Hmmm, maybe... All I found about this is that Blueair air purifiers have been third-party tested for the removal of the most common viruses and bacteria with a clearance rate of over 99.99%. The tests included H1N1 influenza, staphylococcus aureus, E coli and aspergillus. Helps or not I believe it's still better than nothing.Highly recommend, especially if you smoke, have asthma, allergies, pets, kids, for open plan kitchen or for any other reason.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 September 2020DisappointingWe used this for many weeks and I have to say we really didn’t see any significant difference in our bedroom. It is very quiet in operation but in terms of air quality I never really felt any difference in either quality of sleep or the general ambience of the room. It’s not helped by the fact the device has no sensor to be able to tell you whether air quality is better or worse and the app that comes for the device doesn’t do much than turn it on or off. Because of this I couldn’t recommend this product.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 July 2020Blueair Classic 405 Air Purifier with Particle FilterAs I have hay fever, and my husband has asthma, I was pleased to receive this air purifier and interested to see whether it made any difference. The first thing to say is that this is fairly bulky and quite pricey. You need some space for this - as we have a fairly large living room it is fine, but - assuming you want to use this in your main room, or bedroom- then make sure you have a home for it.Setting it up was straightforward, but we have not been able to attach it to the Bluetooth. You need to download the app and then you need to connect it to the device, but we have been unable to attach it. I suppose it might be the wi-fi, but we placed this fairly close to the router and it still could not connect to the device. Luckily, this can be operated manually and so was not a disaster, but you do really need the app. This has three speeds. The first speed is very quiet, but you can faintly hear this when it is on the second speed and the third. As such, if you want to use this in your bedroom, then the first speed is the one to use. Changing the filter looks easy enough and the cartridges are not too expensive, although a spare is not included. It will take some time to know whether there is a big impact, but I have had the garden door open all day and my eyes have not hurt, nor have I sneezed, so I will take that as a good sign! Overall, I am pleased with this and hope it will improve the air quality; allowing me to enjoy the summer in more comfort.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 August 2020Not sure. This product is easy to get up and running and to link with the app.In use, it has three power settings. The lowest setting is incredibly quiet. We have been using it in our sitting room on the middle setting without feeling it is too noisy. The highest setting is too loud for us in a room where we spend a lot of time. The app isn’t terribly useful to be honest. It doesn’t tell you what the air purity is in your room, so you have absolutely no idea of how it is changing with use of the purifier and whether further improvement is needed. All the functions on the app are available on the three buttons on the actual machine. We haven’t noticed a huge difference in the few weeks we have now had it running. We live in a damp old cottage where we need to run dehumidifiers constantly. So we held high hopes for this machine. But I’m not convinced. If I become more convinced I will update the review!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 August 2020Pretty goodThe box was a beast and quite heavy but I was relieved when I opened it up and extricated it from all the packaging, that it’s much more slimline (20 inches tall, x 17 wide and 8 inches deep). and not that heavy at all with recessed areas at the sides near the top that function as handles. It does need to be positioned with a certain amount of space around it so you can’t push it right up against a wall. We have it just a few inches away from a wall and it’s working fine. We downloaded the app without issue, named the device etc but then the app said it couldn’t connect to the device and after numerous attempts we gave up as it is simple enough to control on the panel itself and remotely adjusting the settings isn’t a feature we particularly needed anyway. It’s been running for a few weeks now and the air certainly feels fresher, my sons hay fever is loads better and even though it says it doesn’t remove scents or odours. I do think that food smells have been clearing faster than before. You get a noticeable cooling of the air in the immediate vicinity of the purifier and it terms of noise, it’s virtually silent on the lowest setting. You can hear it more on the two higher setting but it’s such a low background noise that it’s not annoying at all and you soon stop even noticing it
