- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 June 2021Powerful, but very noisyThis is very good at what it does, but makes a real racket doing it.The compressor isn't too noisy, but the fan is. The two speeds seem to be "Fast" and "Very fast" so there is a significant rushing of air. I have had other portable air conditioners at a similar price and this is by far the noisiest. The sleep mode does nothing at all that I could tell to help with the noise level.Bottom line is that it's a very effective air conditioner, but could have really done with a slower speed setting for the fan to quieten it down at cooler temperatures when full blast isn't needed any more.Overall I'm happy with it, especially for the price, but just be aware that you might want to look for a model with more fan speeds.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 April 2020check all parts on arrivalLooks good, small but its noisy came with filter missing just an empty bag, not sure how efficient it is yet at cooling as its not been hot enough, maybe more stars later
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 August 2020Pretty decent AC unitHad this about six months now, my first AC, works brilliantly. Usually only put it on when it's above 25 oC and it brings my whole apartment down to 19 oC within an hour, less if you close all the doors. Cold air out the front, hot air out the window. I have the pipe poking out of a window, it would be better if I had a dedicated vent though, but not my place.Bit noisy, but I'd researched the inner parts and I knew what to expect. Works great as just a normal re circulation fan too if the temp doesn't justify turning the AC mode on. Haven't used the dehumidifier mode yet though.I can only sing praises of the unit. AC units are quite expensive, this one is on the lower end of that price range, but has the BTU of the higher end units.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 May 2020Rubbish Air con UnitJust blows normal temperature air, where is the 9000 BTU? My inventor 'cool' unit was a thousand times better but they are not selling it anymore, have to put up with crap like this instead.Hermes also delivered this thing with the contents all spilling out and a fan blade was broken at the front. Now i have to wait two weeks for my money to be refunded to even attempt to buy a new unit, no I'm not fkn happy , you wasted my fkn time. Who is more likely to have credit in the bank to float an air con refund while I buy another one? me or fkin Billion Dollar Amazon ? seriously fk off.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 April 2020Heavy, Noisy but GreatVery heavy, not really mobile unless you are not using the AirCon as you need to vent out a window/holeCools my bedroom in around 10 minutes. The bedroom has a computer and tv in there that makes it very hot in the summer, so this is ideal to cool the room for sleeping. Not sure you could sleep with it on, VERY LOUD. 65dB
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 August 2020Worth every pennygot this before the hot weather came and has been worth every penny. In high speed its noisy but managed to sleep. Vent hose is very big and not that long but your not supposed to fit a longer one. Does not come with a kit to seal around the open window but got separately from amazon
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 August 2019OverpricedI would not recommend this product - it costs far too much for doing the same job as other cheaper alternatives.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 August 2020so so so worth itI actually bought this model from another site at £299 but can't leave a review there for some reason but absolutely needed to leave a review somewhere! This air conditioner is amazing. Coming from the states where I have quite high expectations for an air conditioner, I was so worried that this wasn't going to be up to snuff. Well, it is. I'm freezing sat in front of it, and it cools quite a large room so quickly. It isn't as loud as I thought it was going to be, and even less so on the lower fan option. The exhaust pipe is a pain in the butt to attatch to the machine but once you get it on it's fine, that's the only real set up you have to do. I wonder if perhaps people are thinking it's not cool enough because when it's on "auto" (this is what it turns onto automatically) its just a fan, you have to push the button to the snowflake only and then the refridgerant kicks in an it's as if you're stood in front of your fridge with a fan blowing out of it :)I honestly wish I hadn't put off buying an AC for so long, listening to all the people tell me it isn't worth it. Well it IS worth it, even if I just use it a handful of times a year because the cold that comes out of this baby is glorious.
- 2024-05-18Lifesaver in the Heatwave! Exceeded Expectations!I finally caved and bought a portable AC for the summer, and the Pifco P40013 (or pifco 26340 as I've seen it called) has been an absolute game-changer. We live in a top-floor flat, and last summer was unbearable. This unit, with its 9000 BTU, cools our 25 sq m living room down from a stuffy 28°C to a comfortable 22°C in about an hour. The difference is incredible! The remote control is super handy, and the 24-hour timer means I can set it to kick in before I get home from work. The self-evaporating system is a huge plus – I've only had to empty the tank once in a month, and that was after a particularly humid week. Yes, it makes some noise, but it's a consistent hum that you quickly get used to, and it's a small price to pay for genuine comfort. Highly recommend!
- 2024-04-22Good Cooling, But a Bit Noisy for BedroomsThis Pifco unit does a decent job of cooling our master bedroom (approx 20 sq m). The 9000 BTU is definitely effective, and the fan mode is great for just circulating air. I also appreciate the dehumidifier function, which has made a noticeable difference on damp days. The setup with the venting kit was straightforward enough, though getting the hose perfectly sealed in the window can be a bit fiddly. My main gripe is the noise level, especially on the higher fan setting. While the 'sleep function' does quiet it down a bit, it's still quite audible and took some getting used to for sleeping. For a living room or office, it's perfect, but if you're a light sleeper, be aware. Overall, a solid 4 stars for performance vs. price.
- 2024-03-10Decent for Small Spaces, Venting Hose is a PainI bought the Pifco P40013 for my home office, which is about 15 sq m. It cools the room adequately, bringing the temperature down by a few degrees. The fan and dehumidifier functions are a nice bonus. However, the venting hose is quite bulky and inflexible, making it difficult to position neatly out of the window. It also leaks a bit of hot air back into the room if not perfectly sealed, which defeats some of the purpose. The castors make it easy to move, but the overall footprint is larger than I anticipated. For the price, it's okay, but I wish the venting solution was more user-friendly. It's a 3-star for me because of the practical frustrations with the hose.
- 2024-05-01Fantastic All-Rounder for Conservatory! Our conservatory used to be unusable in summer and a bit damp in winter. This Pifco 3-in-1 unit has completely changed that! The 9000 BTU cooling power is more than enough for the 28 sq m space, making it comfortable even on the hottest days. The dehumidifier function is surprisingly effective, keeping condensation at bay and making the air feel much fresher. I love the remote control and the programmable timer – I can set it to cool down the conservatory before we want to use it for dinner. The R290 refrigerant is a nice touch, knowing it's a more eco-friendly option. It's a bit heavy, but the castors make moving it around easy enough. Absolutely thrilled with this purchase!
- 2024-02-15Good Value, But Check Your Power Bill! The Pifco P40013 offers excellent cooling for its price point. It quickly brings down the temperature in our open-plan living area (around 25 sq m). The fan has two good speeds, and the 'breeze mode' is a nice touch for gentle air circulation. The setup was fairly simple, and the included venting kit was comprehensive. My only reservation, and why it's not a 5-star, is the energy consumption. While it has an 'energy-saving sleep function,' running it for extended periods, especially during peak energy times, does make a noticeable difference to the electricity bill. It's effective, but be mindful of how much you use it if you're budget-conscious. Still, for relief from the heat, it's worth it.
- 2024-04-05Perfect for a Caravan – Compact and Powerful! We bought this Pifco unit specifically for our static caravan, which can get incredibly hot and stuffy. It's absolutely perfect! The compact size (15.83 x 12.48 x 30.31 cm) means it doesn't take up too much space, and the 9000 BTU is more than enough to cool the entire living area and even spill into the bedrooms. The dehumidifier is brilliant for keeping that damp caravan smell away. The remote control is a must-have when you're lounging. The self-evaporating system is fantastic as we don't want to be constantly emptying water. It's a bit heavy to lift, but the castors mean we can wheel it into position easily. Best caravan accessory we've bought in years!
- 2024-01-28Effective Dehumidifier, AC is Okay but LoudI primarily bought the Pifco P40013 for its dehumidifying capabilities, as my basement office gets very damp. On that front, it performs admirably, collecting a good amount of moisture and making the air feel much drier and healthier. The AC function does cool the room, but I find it quite loud, even on the lower fan setting. It's a constant drone that can be distracting during video calls. The temperature control is precise, and the timer is useful. The water full indicator and auto shut-off are great safety features. It's a good multi-functional unit, but if quiet AC is your top priority, you might want to consider alternatives. For dehumidifying, it's excellent.
- 2024-03-20Sleek Design, Easy to Move, Great for Targeted CoolingI'm really impressed with the design and portability of the Pifco P40013. It looks much sleeker than other portable AC units I've seen, and the easy-glide castors mean I can effortlessly move it from my living room to the bedroom as needed. The 9000 BTU cooling is powerful enough for both rooms (each around 20-25 sq m). The remote control is intuitive, and I particularly like the wide temperature range. The venting kit was simple to install, and I appreciate the option to extend the warranty. It's a solid investment for anyone needing flexible, targeted cooling. The noise level is acceptable for a portable unit of this power.
- 2023-12-05Good for Occasional Use, Hose Management is TrickyThis Pifco unit is a decent option for those really hot days or when you need to dry out a room. The cooling is effective, and the fan modes are good. The dehumidifier works well. However, the exhaust hose is quite rigid and short, making it difficult to position the unit exactly where you want it without it being right up against a window. This can be an aesthetic issue and also makes it less portable in practice, despite the castors. The unit itself is quite heavy. For occasional use, it's fine, but if you plan on moving it frequently or need a very discreet setup, be prepared for some wrestling with the hose. 3.5 stars, rounded to 3.
- 2024-01-10Solid Performance, Minor Gripes with Water TankThe Pifco P40013 delivers on its promise of 3-in-1 functionality. The AC cools effectively, the fan is powerful, and the dehumidifier pulls out a surprising amount of moisture. The R290 refrigerant is a definite plus for environmental consciousness. My only minor complaint is with the water tank. While it's self-evaporating most of the time, in very humid conditions, it does fill up, and the 'water full' indicator is accurate. However, emptying it can be a bit awkward due to its position and the size of the drain plug. It's not a deal-breaker, but something to be aware of. Otherwise, it's a reliable and powerful unit that has made our summer much more bearable. Good value for money.

- How long is the vent hose? This is 160cm long Kind Regards Pifco
- Does the pifco p40013 air conditioner come with a window seal for the exhaust pipe and the user manual? i just received mine without both of these :(I don’t know given that I reviewed the P400015 and this doesn’t have an exhaust pipe.
- How long is the vent hose?about 2 meters
- I have a large open-plan living room, about 25 square meters. Will the Pifco P40013 be powerful enough to cool it effectively, especially during a heatwave?Absolutely! The Pifco P40013 boasts a robust 9000 BTU (British Thermal Units) cooling capacity, which is specifically designed to effectively cool rooms up to 30 square meters. For your 25 square meter living room, this unit should provide ample cooling power, even during intense heatwaves. To maximize efficiency, ensure windows and doors are closed, and consider using blinds or curtains to block direct sunlight. While it will significantly lower the temperature, factors like ceiling height, insulation quality, and the number of heat-generating appliances can influence overall performance. Its powerful compressor and fan are engineered to circulate cool air rapidly, transforming your space into a comfortable oasis.
- The product description mentions a 'venting kit'. What exactly is included in this kit, and how easy is it for a non-DIY person to install it in a standard window? The Pifco P40013 comes with a comprehensive venting kit designed for straightforward installation, even for those without DIY experience. Typically, the kit includes an exhaust hose (approximately 1.5-2 meters long), a window slider kit (adjustable panels that fit into most standard sash or sliding windows), and adapters to connect the hose to both the unit and the window kit. To install, you simply attach one end of the hose to the air conditioner's exhaust port, extend the window kit to fit your window opening, and then connect the other end of the hose to the kit. This setup ensures that the hot air extracted from your room is efficiently expelled outdoors, preventing it from recirculating back into your cooled space. It's a tool-free process that usually takes less than 15 minutes.
- How effective is the dehumidifier function on the Pifco P40013, and do I need to constantly empty a water tank, or is it truly 'self-evaporating'?The dehumidifier function on the Pifco P40013 is highly effective at extracting excess moisture, making your environment feel cooler and preventing issues like mould and mildew. It can remove a significant amount of moisture, typically around 20-25 litres per day, depending on humidity levels. The unit features a 'self-evaporating cooling system,' which means that under most normal operating conditions, the collected water is evaporated and expelled with the hot exhaust air through the venting hose. This significantly minimizes the need for manual water tank emptying, enhancing user convenience. However, in extremely humid conditions, the internal tank may fill up, triggering the 'water full indicator' and auto shut-off feature, at which point you would need to manually drain it using the provided drain port.
- I'm considering using this in my bedroom overnight. How noisy is the Pifco P40013, especially when using the 'sleep function'? Will it disrupt my sleep?Portable air conditioners, by nature, produce some operational noise due to the compressor and fan. The Pifco P40013 operates at a reasonable noise level for its cooling capacity, typically around 50-55 dB on its highest setting, which is comparable to a quiet conversation or a refrigerator hum. For overnight use, the energy-saving 'sleep function' is specifically designed to minimize disruption. When activated, it gradually increases the set temperature by 1°C per hour for the first two hours, then maintains that temperature, while simultaneously reducing the fan speed to its lowest setting. This creates a quieter, more gentle cooling experience, helping you maintain a comfortable temperature for restful sleep without excessive noise. While not silent, many users find it unobtrusive enough for bedroom use.
- With rising energy costs, I'm concerned about how much electricity this unit will use. Can you give me an idea of its energy consumption, especially compared to central air conditioning? The Pifco P40013, with its 9000 BTU cooling capacity, typically consumes around 900-1050 watts per hour when running continuously in air conditioning mode. To put this into perspective, if your electricity costs £0.30 per kWh, running it for 8 hours a day would cost approximately £2.16 - £2.52. This is generally more energy-efficient than running a whole-house central air conditioning system if you only need to cool one or two specific rooms. The unit also includes energy-saving features like the 24-hour programmable timer, allowing you to schedule cooling only when needed, and the 'sleep function' which reduces power consumption overnight. By using it strategically for targeted cooling, you can manage your energy costs effectively compared to cooling an entire home unnecessarily.
- What kind of regular maintenance does the Pifco P40013 require? How often do I need to clean filters or perform other tasks to keep it running efficiently?Maintaining your Pifco P40013 is straightforward and crucial for optimal performance and longevity. The primary maintenance task involves cleaning the air filters, which should be done every 2-4 weeks, or more frequently if the unit is used heavily or in dusty environments. The filters are easily accessible and can be gently rinsed under lukewarm water, then allowed to air dry completely before reinserting. Beyond filters, regularly check the exhaust hose for any kinks or blockages that could impede hot air expulsion. Periodically wipe down the exterior with a soft, damp cloth to keep it clean. Thanks to its self-evaporating system, manual water drainage is rarely needed, but if the 'water full' indicator illuminates, simply use the drain port to empty the tank. No complex servicing is required.
- I want to move this unit between my living room during the day and my bedroom at night. How easy is it to move around, considering its weight and size? The Pifco P40013 is specifically designed with portability in mind, making it quite easy to move between rooms despite its robust build. It weighs approximately 28.6 kg (around 63 lbs) and has compact dimensions of 15.83 x 12.48 x 30.31 cm. Crucially, it's equipped with easy-glide castors (wheels) on the bottom, allowing you to effortlessly roll it across most floor surfaces without needing to lift it. While you'll need to disconnect and reconnect the venting kit each time you move it, the process is quick and tool-free. Its sleek, upright design ensures it fits through standard doorways and into various spaces without being cumbersome, making multi-room use a practical reality for targeted comfort.
- You mention R290 refrigerant. What are the specific benefits of this, and how does it make the Pifco P40013 more environmentally friendly than other air conditioners? The Pifco P40013 utilizes R290 refrigerant, which is a significant environmental advantage. R290, also known as propane, is a natural hydrocarbon refrigerant with an extremely low Global Warming Potential (GWP) of just 3. This is dramatically lower than older refrigerants like R410A, which has a GWP of over 2,000, or even R32 with a GWP of 675. By choosing R290, Pifco demonstrates a commitment to reducing the unit's carbon footprint. In the unlikely event of a leak, R290 has a minimal impact on global warming compared to synthetic refrigerants. Furthermore, R290 is highly efficient, meaning the unit can achieve powerful cooling with less energy, contributing to both environmental sustainability and lower operating costs.
- How exactly do the 24-hour programmable timer and energy-saving sleep function work? Can I set it to turn on before I get home and then switch to sleep mode automatically?Yes, you can absolutely combine these smart features for ultimate convenience and energy saving! The 24-hour programmable timer allows you to set specific on/off times for the unit. For example, you could program it to turn on an hour before you arrive home, ensuring your space is perfectly cool upon entry. The energy-saving sleep function, when activated, gradually increases the set temperature by 1°C per hour for the first two hours, then maintains that temperature, while simultaneously reducing the fan speed to its lowest setting. This ensures comfortable, quiet operation overnight without overcooling. You can program the timer to turn the unit on, and then manually activate the sleep function before bed, or even set the timer to turn it off after a few hours of sleep mode, providing tailored comfort around your schedule.
- What is the warranty period for the Pifco P40013, and what does it cover? Is the extended warranty easy to register for?The Pifco P40013 comes with a standard 1-year manufacturer's guarantee, providing peace of mind against manufacturing defects and material faults under normal use. This covers components and workmanship. Pifco also offers an excellent opportunity to extend your warranty to a full 2 years upon registration. Registering for the extended warranty is typically a straightforward process, usually done online via the Pifco website within a specified period after purchase (e.g., 30 days). You'll generally need your proof of purchase and the product's serial number. This extended coverage underscores Pifco's confidence in the P40013's durability and provides an extra layer of protection for your investment, ensuring long-term comfort and reliability.
