  Look out for knots in the wooden stretchers

  When we purchased it was sturdy and looked well built. I have looked after it since the purchase in May 2018. It is covered every day while it is out and not in use, and in the winter it is stored in a shed. But I have just noticed a crack around a knot in one of the the stretchers. As stretchers are under load when the umbrella is open it is not advisable to have knots in them. Now I'm having to think of a decent solution before the stretcher snaps. I suggest if you have knots in the stretchers to return the product and ask for one knot free.

  This is very well built and larger than most on the market, this is the second time we bought one of these as our previous one got damaged when we moved. We have a lot of strong winds where we live and it still stands strong. The wooden struts also look more attractive than the metal ones. Thoroughly recommend this and it’s worth spending a bit more as you get what you pay for.

  Worth every penny

  This might be more expensive than other umbrellas but well worth the money. We bought this to replace a very old umbrella which was about 25 yrs old and the canvas was starting to fail. ( it was 3rd hand when we had it and it's been left outside every summer in sunny, wet and windy Cornwall) It's very easy to put together ( so my husband said!)The colour is true and the wood frame and post are sturdy.Well worth every penny when you think it's going to last a good 30 odd years !! The only difficulty for us was choosing the colour!!

  Excellent finish - pity about the pole though

  Would have given 5 stars but have reserv-ations about the strength of the pole - overall finish of product is excellent but makers have tried to reduce cost with quality of wood used - doub't that it is hardwood - too grainy & soft. Recomm-ended Kingfisher base fits but not heavier enough for such a big parasol unless fit it thru a table - finished up using a sandbag on top of base - big water filled ones are too expensive & cumbersome.

  The picture shows a brass tilt ,brass chain and wind up mechanism, I've been sent something no tilt no wind up and pull cords which hang down hideously. It's worse than than the I wanted to replace. Can't be bothered to send it back.

  King of garden parasols

  Well worth the money for this sturdy, well made garden parasol. There is no comparison to any other parasol we have. This is so well made, king of the parasols in my opinion plus the extra width meant it completely shaded our 5 seater garden sofa with table set. Which was much needed in our south facing suntrap of a garden.

  By the cool of the pool.

  Very pleased with these; we have a patio that is pretty hot and difficult to get shade, we have tried lighter colours, however these products have transformed a patio that was tricky to be on at times given the intense heat, into one that is a joy to be in cool shade. The protection from intense heat is really very good. The version that pulls up on pulley with the metal rod and ropes is very easy to use. If you have a very hot patio and crave cool shade at the hottest part of the day then buy these. I was so impressed, I actually bought two!

  Ordered this umbrella as it had great reviews and looked substantial. It is a gorgeous umbrella, very well made and looks expensive. It is a very large with a particularly thick wooden pole. Not one to be taking up and down too much as quite weighty.
