Customer Review
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 July 2019Moves around dangerouslyWhilst it looks great and is secure (as we inserted it into a fixed base) and easy to assemble the actual parasol moves like mercury! Even today (great weather, hottest day of the year, barely a breeze) it is so mobile it dangerously dips with the whisper of a breeze (e.g. a passing butterfly!) and would hit people on the head if they were sitting beneath it. Today it swung about so much I had to put it down to avoid it smashing and breaking all the flowers in the border nearby. We had it up at a BBQ at the weekend and had to shut it to stop our guests being injured. A great shame. The opening crank also unwinds over time (i.e. when you first open the parasol it's firmly open but over an hour or so the crank handle turns making it less 'open'). Altogether sort of unusable. Would not purchase again (or suggest that others do)
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 June 2020Good quality but you pay the price. What can one say about this produce. What spring to mind is a solid plastic water bottles.I personally think it is expensive for what is is. However when it arrived I was quite surprised how sturdy the plastic was, filling it with water how heavy it is. Certainly how the parasol is very stable. I will say it is better than concrete one. Easy to store once empty in the winter. All in all good quality but you pay the price.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 May 2021Does what it saysDoes what it says but:1. the retaining clip on the stay arm broke on first use (see first photo); and2. the space for inserting the weights on the base plate is very low (see second photo):ideally I will have to grind off the tip of the stone slab so that it fits properly.PS: make sure you buy a rain cover as well - indispensable in this terrible May weather we are having.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 August 2021Arrived with hole, poor customer serviceI bought this item thinking it was an investment that would last, especially for the price. It arrived with a small hole in it, which would have grown in no time. I contacted customer service wanting to return it for a full refund, customer service responded by making offers of £5-£20 to keep it, which wouldn't have even covered the cost of a repair. It took 4 or 5 messages back and forth of me wanting to return the item and them trying to persuade me to keep it before they agreed.Very poor quality for the asking price. Terrible customer service.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 May 2020Decent Base WeightsArrived well within scheduled delivery time and well packaged. Fitted easily within parasol base. They look good and hold the parasol down securely when fully extended. There was no delivery charge on these as opposed to others so worth the money.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 July 2019This item is not suitable for use by a small personI have today established that I (female, 150 cm, not very long arms) can put this umbrella up and down by stretching to my absolute limit and using the stem of the handle and not the bit that juts out, because I simply cannot reach it when the handle is turned to the top. Previous to that, I thought I was only going to be able to put it up and down by using a small step stool. Alternatively, make sure you screw it into slabs because we are using water-filled base sections on which I feel it would be unwise to stand.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 June 2021Ticks all the boxes.Assembly took about 10mins and was very straight forward. When the umbrella is out and at full height, as many others have stated, you will need an extra weighted base for it to be stable. Have been using it today in a breeze and the canopy does rock a little, but cannot agree with some reviews that suggest dangerously. It was safe in my garden. Canopy size will easily cover our garden table and chairs, when we choose to eat meals outside.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 May 2020Not great - I should have bought something betterWith even the smallest gust of wind the main pole twists and moves the entire cantaliver bracket and attached Umbrella 90 degrees. This is a design fault as the base is secured so I will have to find a way to adapt the pole to make it usable.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 May 2021Cheaply made product. Do not buy.Very disappointed with this parasol. The plastic collar that keeps the parasol upright is already showing signs of stress and that’s after only one use. I will be surprised if this sees me through to the end of this spring.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 August 2021Crap qualityHoles in canopy. Pins loose. Secure clasp poor and damaged. Avoid.
Customer questions and answers
- The parasol constantly moves when up, is this normal? Feels like the crank is not tight enough to stabilise it.Just take care. Mine broke after not that long but I left it too long to send back.
- I have this parasol and the locking sheath (number 2) has snapped ? Has anyone else has this issue ? I cant find a spare anywhere .. Can anyone help?Mine cracked so I bound it round with wide black tape and it still works. I would think the supplier has the answer.
- THe umbrella goes up ok - but it wont fold up when we crank it down... are we doing something wrong?I' m not sure - ours folds up together when we crank it down. Perhaps you have a stuck cord?? Best, Stuart
- Does any company supply spares for Greenbay banana parasols? What sort of spares? I had to get an iron base for my parasol as the one provided was much to light for it. I got it at B and Q.
