- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 July 2019Fine for the priceArrived very quickly. It would have been useful to have instructions re the solar lights. In order to get the lights to work I had to unscrew the battery compartment and connect the leads. If I hadn’t known this from an older parasol I might just have assumed the light and were faulty. Not sure how long the material will last but certainly does the job fine for the price.

I have spent literally two weeks researching and purchasing parasols I ended up with 3 at one point, one was to small and the material barely kept the light out the stitching on the second one I got was terrible really poorly put together got one with a wooden pole with a pulley rope system the rope was far to long and hanged down for the kids to pull and play with. Finally this one turned up and very happy the handle on the system to open the parasols doesn’t seem that great quality but no problems so far I didn’t buy this for the lights but they are actually quite nice in the evening when eating dinner and for the price I am happy the other ones I bought were more expensive and not as good quality it’s sturdy does not blow around.

Lights work after connecting the connectors and the crank handle now raises the parasol. The fixed tilt is very useful. I have the parasol standing through the centre of a patio table without a base at the moment. I am going to buy a base because when tilted, if even a slight breeze blows, the parasol swings around and, as it is extremely heavy, I would hate for any diners to be walloped by it! In the meantime I have put a wedge between the table & pole to stop it moving. Being a little vertically challenged (ok... short!) I struggle a bit with lifting and locating the top section into the lower pole (& definitely wouldn't be able to pull the handy cover/bag down over it) when in situ.The lights are just for decoration really. They look nice but serve no practical purpose. Why would you have a sun shade up or open in the dark anyway? Pretty though.Original review: Very sturdy heavyweight parasol. Lights worked when plugged in (instructions are included). Liked that there is a switch for the solar lights on the pole.We couldn't test the tilt though because, unfortunately, the crank handle didn't raise the parasol up. We realised that (from zooming in on photos) there should be a chord or rope travelling up the inside of the tube from the crank and exiting the top and fixed to a chord that lifts the parasol. So disappointing. It was meant for this weekend.I am returning this and have reordered, so will update my review once I've checked the replacement works ok.

I tried the lights and they worked. Left it in the bright sun for two days and then tried the lights at night. VERY dim. Certainly not worth the extra. You would get more light from striking a match.Made sure the connections were still ok. Left if for a week. Still very dim.Disappointed. Would not buy this again. Better off with a normal parasol and a torch.Sellers please feel free to contact me and prove me wrong.

Several weeks later still waiting to hear if seller will refund me the money, even though it clearly is not fit for purpose. Very disappointed in both the product and the service from Amazon and provider.

- What sort/ size stand should I buy for this?Any normal size stand will fit mine went into the stand I already had which is a heavy metal one for stability hope this helps.

- Doesn’t this parasol have a base which it fits into or must it be used with a table?I use it will a table. I would think a table is essential to stabilise the weight of the parasol with it’s height.
- Is the pole made from powder-coated steel?Don’t think so as magnetic bottle opener won’t stick to it. It is powder coated and the pole is lightweight but strong
