It’s not completely waterproof but it definitely does shelter you from rain as long as it’s light rain and no wind too because it’s very lightweight it could be lifted from the weighted base which is a 10kg base. I have secured it with a magnetic eyebolt and tied up with tent awning rope which kept it still during a windy rainy day and I’m on the second floor so needed to secure it and didn’t get knocked around and it is holding up well. I’m disabled and I can manage to wind the parasol up and down with difficulties but I did it so anyone should be able to wind it no problem. One good thing is it makes a noise when you wind it up but is silent coming back down, that would mean someone visually impaired would know which way to wind it. Very happy with this purchase.
