Kookaburra Shade Sails - Protects you from the sun all day long
Woven shade sails are the most effective sail shades for offering maximum UV protection. The ultra-tight weave of the fabric has been independently tested to UPF34+ making these sail shades near impenetrable by sunlight. More than 96.5% of harmful UV rays are blocked out as a result.
Beautiful, useful and festive, perfect for adding decoration whilst bringing a little comfort to those (few but glorious) hot, hazy days outside. Our 140G sail shades are lightweight, water resistant and ideal for short term outdoor use.
Installation and Accessories
Fix to walls, trees, fences, posts with our easy attachment accessories, or purchase one of our poles
Install at an angle to ensure rainwater runs off.
Each shade sail comes with 1.5m of nylon rope per corner. So 3 x 1.5m for the triangles and 4 x 1.5m for the square and rectangle.
Other installation accessories are NOT included
Please note: Colours shown in the pictures are subject to light. You will only get one sail, not multiple as may be pictured.
Due to the nature of the sail, the edges curve when installed so that will alter the surface area covered. If you're looking to cover a specific sized area, please bear this in mind.
Features
- Easy to install
- Nylon rope is included
We recommend you purchase one of our compatible fixing kits for installing this sail shade. An option of Galvanised steel can be found by searching ASIN: B00BLMGZ8C or Stainless steel at ASIN: B00BLMGYLA

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 August 2018Best buy this summerLove my new sail.. easily to put up and looks great.. makes the garden modern and fresh .. Have already took it down to wash and it looks brand new .. I love it so much had to buy a new one for next year just in case it gets damaged. So enjoying my Garden and with the heat this year its a very welcome bit of shade.. All my friends love it too.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 June 2019Stretched in the middle with wind and rain and this doesn’t take long to happen. It does look good BUT:1. Water just accumulated on it. Which made it2. stretch!!!! And don’t get me wrong it was tense and in a good slope but after only a few 5-7 days of rain and wind it ihas now stretched in the centre3. As it stretches in the middle no matter how much you pull the sides it will never be straight. Now, I still use it and I make sure I take it off if it rains. For sunny days it creates a very nice cool shade
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 June 2020COMPARATIVELY POOR VALUE & WEAK CONSTRUCTIONI've purchased several shade sails over the last 2 years; I'm afraid to say that, (in my opinion,) this shade sail, (despite being a quality name,) is the poorest product/value for money out of the lot! I cannot comment on water resilience, longevity, or durability, as I've only just received it; I was just so disappointed, I felt I had to write this review straight away. To give you an idea, I have never paid more than £25 for a sail, (and that included postage,) and that was for a special, lime green sail, measuring 2m x 3m. This plain white, Kookaburra sail, (measuring 4m x 3m,) cost me £27.99 plus £4.99 postage. 4m x 3m is a substantial size, and yet this Kookaburra sail is only single stitched to the hem, plus the webbing loops are only double stitched & crossed! (Please see photo.) This may seem adequate to those that haven't purchased these types of sails before, however, I'm also posting photos of some of my previous sails for comparison. As you'll see, despite being lesser, cheaper brands - these ALL have tight & secure, double-stitched hems & seams, as well as double, triple, (& even - quadruple,) stitched & crossed, reinforced corners. I would return this Kookaburra sail, but I will loose the £5 I paid for it to be posted to me, plus the cost of returning it, (because this is not a faulty product, just poor construction, comparing it to a previous Kookaburra sail and the other, cheaper sails I've illustrated in this review).
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 October 2019Poor quality surprised it was made by the same company as my previous sail. This is definitely not the same quality as the one it is replacing nor is it the same colour as the previous one. This one does not have the steel rings my previous sail had nor does it have a taped seam so it leaks water through the seam. The quality of the stitching is poor too and is already showing signs of failing not what I have come to expect from this brand especially since the previous sail lasted 2 years in all sorts of weather.I would have returned it had I not needed the sail up for weekend barbecue and tossed the packaging.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 31 July 2020If I'd seen in the flesh before buying, it would have stayed on the shelfThe fabric is good, offers real shade. The quality of the stitching is pathetic. We have had it under 2 weeks, we have had to re stitch some seems and cut endless poorly finished cotton threads. The colour is nothing as ordered, but we liked it. I'm not sending it back. But the seller or maker needs to know that this is very over priced, badly finished, poorly made.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 31 July 2018Doesn't secure to wall well enough. Damaged now so waste of money.Worked lovely in the sun, was secure to the wall but came down in wind and rain and couldn't take it down due to being unsafe to use ladders in the wind. It's now very frayed where it's been tied one one end and undone the other, it's rubbed against something so it damaged now. I like it but if the weather changes suddenly it could be a waste of money as it was with us. Nice quality but doesn't secure well enough, gets pulled down and dies.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 August 2017Good quality shade for four peopleIdeal size for sheltering under for four chairs. Only downside is probably that you need to angle downhill (like all tarps) to avoid pooling when it, inevitably, rains - seems water repellent. Looks good too and if our other one (triangular) is anything to go by, it should last a while.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 December 2018Not greatI wanted to love it but even when fitted as tightly as possible it sags underneath like an old mans belly.. it has become a rain trap and has to be emptied or taken down all time.. in end i had to make a hole in bottom to let water out..
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 August 2021Great qualityAs always, great Kookaburra quality. Not 100% water “proof” but they don’t say they are. Pooled water will seep through eventually so make sure tensions are all set correctly and fitted at an angle to allow run off if intending to leave out during all weathers.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 July 2018Nice harbour shade for use on boatReally delighted with this to use on a boat. Also bought some fiberglass tent poles. Strong enough for 12kt wind
Customer questions and answers
- would thisbe ok to put on top of a slanting perpex roof to protect from the rain please and nail it downAbsolutely not
- Would this give temporary shade over a huge 12by6ft rabbit run? This is amazingly effective. You'll need fixings either poles or like we do between the house and the garage. We have family members who can't sit in the sun so this would be perfect for your rabbit. You will need to lower it if it gets too windy.
- I want this to go over the top of my car to keep it cool inside . Would this do the job ?We used ours in the garden for a party and it gave great cover so I imagine it woud help keep your car cooler and take some of the sun off. It has sturdy ties and for us worked well.
- Is this machine washable?no idea haven't machine washed as yet. Seems medium quality and strong in wind but not sure about washing.
