How choose the right bathroom radiator?

Before choosing the right bathroom radiator, we must take into account several important issues. As you know, the radiator can be used all year round, it can be used as a dryer for towels or linen, it can also be a decorative element of our room. Bathroom radiators are installed for years, so we should think carefully before buying it.

When choosing a wall bathroom radiator, the main issue is its power. Therefore, we must take into account the size of the bathroom - the larger the area, the greater the power of the radiator should be. In order to obtain the optimal temperature of 25 ° C in the bathroom, a power of 100 to 130 W is needed for every 1 m² of floor area. It is worth adding a surplus of 10-20%, which is usually spent on drying towels or washing. So if you have, for example, a bathroom with an area of 5 m², it is best to choose a heater with a power of approx. 600W.

There is a large selection of towel rail radiators on the market. They are of various shapes - rectangular, oval, round, and also flat or convex, on which it is easier to hang a towel or laundry. However, if a flat radiator is installed, e.g. due to the limited free space around it, we can buy various types of handles and hangers. Manufacturers offer white radiators as standard, but for an additional fee, we can choose a color from a wide range of colors. Chrome radiators are also available, but if you decide to choose one, you need to remember to choose the right power, because they emit less heat than traditional ones.

What temperature should be in the bathroom?

The temperature in the bathroom should be about 4 ° C higher than in other rooms and should be 24-25 ° C to ensure the comfort necessary for everyday hygiene activities. When planning a renovation or furnishing a bathroom, it is worth considering the most effective way to heat it. We have several solutions to choose from our selection of electric bathroom heaters.

Types of bathroom heating

It is the so-called ladder bathroom radiators, which have been replacing the old cast iron ribbed radiators for many years. Their primary function is to heat the room, but they also serve as a towel dryer or laundry. You can choose between heaters powered by a central heating installation or electric heaters powered by an electric heater.

Choose an appropriate radiator power

When choosing a radiator for the bathroom, first of all, pay attention to the thermal power. If we can view the design of the central heating installation - then heat losses, e.g. bathrooms, are calculated and the heat output of the radiator is determined by the designer. However, if we do not have a central heating installation project and we do not know the heat demand, we can use the available formulas or online calculators.

I usually assume heat losses of 130 - 170 W per 1m2. In the catalogs, the heat output of radiators is given as follows: 75/65 / 20²C, where: 75ºC means the supply temperature, 65ºC the return temperature and 20ºC the temperature inside the room.

The temperature in the bathroom is 24ºC - the temperature of the heating medium may differ from the catalog temperature. When selecting a heater, take into account the change in power with parameters different from the catalog ones.

What should be considered to choose a radiator for the bathroom?

Then we should consider what the radiator should look like. There is a very wide range of radiators on our market, which will not only meet our requirements in terms of practicality but will also constitute an additional aesthetic element of our bathroom.

Classic bathroom radiators usually resemble a ladder. We can choose horizontal, vertical, arched, corner and standing radiators. In many offers of reputable manufacturers, we can also find various colors and patterns of radiators that can be perfectly matched to our bathroom.

Electric (steel or aluminum)

basically, only the function of a dryer, because they have too little power to heat the bathroom, but they are a good complement to underfloor heating. They are connected to an electrical outlet (necessarily earthed!), But remember to keep an appropriate distance from the water source, at least 60 cm from the edge of the washbasin, bathtub, or shower.
