- Is this a plug in lamp to a normal socketYes, you plug it in like normal but it has a usb socket on the side so if you want, you can charge a phone too. It’s a lovely lamp.

- Is the switch on the stand or on the wire? Seems to be photos of both options.The model of lamp I have does not have the USB ports and the switch is on the wire not the lamp base.
