- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 July 2018It Stank of MoldI had to send it back. After several weeks it still stank of stale water. Simba were not interested in the slightest, just rude and unhelpful. Also I did not find it very comfortable. For 95 quid the product and service should be much better.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 July 2018Not as good as mattressStrong chemical smell from foam filling does not dissipate despite airing for over a week. My regular pillows much more comfortable. Shame as their mattress is superb.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 November 2018no more neck problems - read for explanation of smellI had horrible neck problems and the first night I used this, I woke up as if my shoulders were back where they were supposed to be - fantastic! There was a bit if a smell when I opened it but this is because of the memory foam nano tubes core and is what is called 'off-gasing' and is the same thing that happens when you paint a room. the chemicals in the memory foam are reacting with the air and this will die down. I managed to get rid of all the smell in less than 8 hours by doing the following: Take out the memory foam core bag and open and pour the memory foam tubes out on a flat surface where they can air out in a dry room with plenty of ventilation, (I pointed a fan) every so often going in and turning them and roughing them up a bit.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 September 2018Criminally expensive - but *gnashes teeth*, grudgingly may be worth it.I've just come back to knock the score up to 5 after some months using it. Yes it's a lot for a pillow - but then it's not so much for something that makes your bed more pleasant.Simba Hybrid mattress was perfect from the get-go, hence the pillow purchase - took a bit longer for them to win me over (and price shock wasn't a great start).Right. The Review. The pillow is in 3 layers. The core of it is a bag of what look to be foam packing-peanuts (I'm sure they're magic in some way - but that's what they look like. You fill this inner bag to give the pillow its height (and you get a handy little drawstring bag to hold the peanuts you remove). This inner bag, then fits inside the pillow that you see in the photos. Pillow has 2 sides; One side man-made fibre with a cotton cover - feels soft and 'uniformly springy'Other feather with the 'outlast' fabric cover - feels softer and then gets harder as you push into it. Outlast wicks away heat (and does seem to work - definitely feels cooler when you put your head on it).Which side you use is really up to what sort of pillows you like. Personally I prefer and previously had a feather pillow on top, so prefer the outlast side. If that doesn't sound like what you want, you can get the version without Outlast. What I like about this pillow is that it feels like a lovely feather pillow - but with the solid core gives you a decent amount of support/height. I often sleep on my side and have wide shoulders, so pretty handy at keeping your head in line with your spine (and can adjust it to the height/depth you need). Definitely better than my previous lump of Tempur, with a feather pillow on top - easier to position and definitely cooler.Still - price is ridiculous.I only bought them when they got a minor discount (happens, so maybe worth setting up an alert).
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 August 2019FLAT AND UNCOMFORTABLEWe just bought Simba mattress as apparently this supposed to be THE BEST mattress on market so in the same time we treated ourselves to Simba pillows.Well.What a disappointment !Pillows arrived nicely packed in big boxes… looked lush!....But OMG – how FLAT are they!!! As soon as you’ll put your head on it there is no “BOUNCE” and your head is pretty much on mattress !I didn’t minded to pay £95 per pillow as this is how much I’ve paid for my current pillow and this pillow is the best ever! But its been in our house for probably 15 years! Yep. That long lolIt never changed shape and we always argue who will sleep on it because you will always have best sleep on that pillow!Unfortunately I don’t remember where its from.. so we cannot replace it with same brand… That’s why we decided to give a go to Simba. It is a BIG NO NO from us so we are returning them… and to be honest I think I’ll be returning mattress as well as after a week we both aching after not having good night sleep ( rolling on mattress to try to get comfy )No idea where from simba products have 5* rates?
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 February 2019A great concept, but results fall short of promise and costAs someone who suffers from night sweats, particularly from my head, I am always on the lookout for innovative new space-age solutions to grant me a dry and comfortable night's sleep. The SIMBA Hybrid Pillow with OUTLAST + Down goes some way to providing such a solution, but it is not a miracle cure - even at the premium price. In terms of overall comfort, the cooler OUTLAST side is far cooler than a standard pillow surface, and in most cases it keeps me cool and comfortable. That being said, it can only do so much, and on a warmer night, I can still wake up sweating on this side of the pillow - so the cooling benefits of the OUTLAST technology does have its limits.I also found the Outlast material a bit rough and synthetic to sleep on, so it was a trade-off between luxury/comfort and coolness. I did find the pillow large enough that I could turn it round and use the back of the pillow (which was still cool) whenever the part of it I had been sleeping on became too warm and uncomfortable. The other side of the pillow is a luxuriously comfortable down material, which while warmer than the OUTLAST side, is extremely soft and pleasant to sleep on, and on cooler nights it didn't become too hot or uncomfortable for me to sleep on.The inner 'micro tubes' that form the filling of the pillow can be felt through the lining as a strange bumpy texture, and can feel a bit thinly distributed throughout what is a pretty large pillow, but I understand you can request additional tubes from the manufacturer and adjust the amount of filling for your own personal comfort. It is also possible to remove the inner filling to machine wash the outer lining, which I needed to do because I have sweated on the pillow. unfortunately, in a relatively short amount of use, I have managed to discolour the pillow a slightly yellow colour on the OUTLAST side, and a mesh-like texture is now plainly visible on it. I will experiment with more intensive washing programmes/detergents to attempt to remove this discolouration. On the whole, I can confirm this pillow is indeed a cooler alternative to regular pillows, but costing £100+, it has not proven to be a miracle solution for at least someone who is prone to heavy night sweats.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 June 2019Stained pillow! Nothing you'd expect for the money. The item arrived properly packed by Amazon but it was clear that the manufacturer's box has been opened before with the sticky tape fixed over original seals. After opening product's box I found a hole in the inner wrapping and after that discovered a stain on the pillow itself. This is extremely poor quality for such an expensive item. I'd suggest Simba Sleep treats it's customers with respect they deserve!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 February 2018Like lying on a cloud ⛅️Arrived in 2 days, packaged very well, this pillow is worth every penny, I suffer with chronic neck pain and I snore. Since buying this pillow I now sleep ? like a baby ? no snoring and neck pain gone. I highly recommend treating yourself to this pillow.Happy ? sleeping ?I have the Simba mattress too,You haven’t slept until you’ve had a Simba sleep ?
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 February 2021The “I’ve got your money so now your on your own” guarantee.I am writing this 13 months after I bought this pillow from simbasleep through Amazon. The pillow has been good, though getting the right number of nano cubes to get the right height has proven interesting as if you remove some of the cubes to make it lower then when you use it to sleep the cubes all bunch up meaning you get undesirable high and low spots. That has been something that after spending £99 I have fought and just about won to get a good nights sleep. So the problem that I’ve really had is the after sales support. Simbasleep don’t recognise that they actually sell their products through Amazon, and as such when you contact them with an issue they are not willing to help. My issue is that you take the cover off the pillow to regularly wash it, like any normal person would do, and the zip has now broken. So simba don’t sell replacement covers for these pillows, and don’t want to talk to me about any kind of guarantee or warranty for it.After 13 months of use I think it is quite reasonable to expect a better quality product when you pay £99.I will now look for an alternative solution, and do not recommend this pillow for the price. I would suggest you perhaps tried the Emma pillow which is considerably cheaper. Many thanks
Customer questions and answers
- Does this pillow kept your head cool all nightNo I found it very hot. The side with the special fabric just made it feel damp and sweaty. Switched to silk pillow - much better.
- I have used standard pillow cases and they squash the pillows. Used them without and they are much better, but I’d prefer a pillowcase. What you use?Buy a pillowcase with the extra seam around, they're called oxford pillowcases, and simply unpick the seam to open it up into a larger pillowcase. Fits perfectly.
- After using this for a few hours this smells awful. So much I had to change it. Anyone else having this issue?Hi, If the pillow arrives with a smell, we recommend to take out the inner case with the Nanotubes and air it to allow the smell to fade away. The outer case can also be machine washed at 40 degrees.
- Can you use this pillow with a pillow case?It would need to be a large pillow case, we tried a normal one on it and it squeezes it too much. The cover is effectively a pillow case so we don't use one and it's been fine.
