- Hi. how does it switch on and off? does it have an ir sensor?I fitted this into a Japanese lantern and mounted the solar panel on the fence. It works well, turning on at dusk and goes off when the battery is exhaused some time in tbe small hours. Whether the sensor is detecting IR I rather doubt, it just apears to work on ambient light.
