The highlight for all exterior areas
The L 190 S combines a harmonious form, rich in elaborate details, with innovative STEINEL multisensor technology for individual light and comfort functions. Equipped with a soft start function, a basic brightness function of 0% - 50% (Watt-o-matic) - as soon as a movement is detected, the light switches to full light output for the set time – and a manual override function, which is actviated by power switch, switching the light on permanently for 4 hours.

Human thermal radiationDue to their body heat humans emit infrared radiation. Infrared sensor technology uses this radiation to detect movement and to react accordingly. | The pyro sensorThis electric module reacts as soon as the infrared thermal radiation within the detection zone changes. This causes a voltage jump which is then converted into an electronic impulse, which switches the light on or off. | ReachThe reach of infrared sensors depends on the direction of movement. With tangential movements (parallel to the sensor) the reach is about 12 m on average, which is shortened when moving directly towards the sensor (radial movement). - where are the setting buttons?They are inside at the bottom - you have to take off the outer case. There are 3 program buttons - you just press the middle one until the red led in the sensor flashes, wait the amount of time you want the light to remain on after each activation, 2 minutes in my case, then press the button again. - can i purchase the bulbs from you, they look special in the photo on the Amazon websiteHello...I haven't had to replace the bulb yet, but I imagine that they are standard bulbs that can be purchased at most places. I'm surprised that Amazon can't answer your question themselves !
- how do you make the light less bright at night timeThe instructions are a little tricky to understand but there is a switch underneath that you can hold until the light is at the brightness you require. If you press and hold it, it will go from dim to bright and back to dim until you remove your finger.
- Followed instructions to set to night-time operation (lux button 5 secs until LED stops flashing) but then light immediately comes on in day light??Looking at my notes from when I installed it - there are 3 program buttons - wait until dusk when light level is about the level you want the Steinel light to be active, then press left hand button until red led flashes. It should then only be active when motion detected at or below that light level.
