- Can the pole be made shorterDepends, you could cut it, but that's rather permanent. Same diameter pole all the way up.
- what sort of weight base does this need ?Depends how windy it is where you are. Mine is on my patio with about 30 kg on it but it gets very windy here. My weight can go up 45kg (water) but it hasn't needed it yet.
